Chapter 184
Late at night, an ordinary taxi cruised along the highway.
Not long after leaving Skyline City, the road wound into a stretch of mountains. The taxi passed through one tunnel after another, the light shifting again and again from brightness to shadow.
Mary broke the silence. “Alex… what exactly is going on?”
Her gaze fixed on his hands, wrapped tightly in bandages, and her voice shook.
Alexander was breathing hard. The life–threatening urgency had eased once they left Skyline City, but the pain still tore through his body, drawing cold sweat across his forehead.
He forced the words out through clenched teeth. “Isabella. Dominic. I’ll come back for them sooner or later. I’ll make them regret ever being born.”
“Did they do this to you?” Mary snarled. “Those bastards.”
Venom filled Alexander’s eyes. “Just wait. I’ll live this entire life for one thing only. Revenge.”
Mary’s expression darkened as well. “They still have that little bastard. When the time comes, we’ll grab her. That will force
them to give in.”
“Lilith…” Alexander paused, as if recalling something. A strange smile spread across his face, cruel and impossible to read.
Mary nodded eagerly. “That’s right. That little bastard. No matter how powerful they are, they can’t watch a child every single day. As long as-”
“Enough!” Alexander cut her off. He suddenly remembered the driver.
Mary stiffened and glanced toward the front of the car. Her body froze.
The driver was gone.
Alexander sat directly behind the driver’s seat and had not noticed anything yet. When he saw the look on his mother’s face, as if she had seen a ghost, he leaned forward. His jaw dropped.
“W–Where’s the driver?” His voice shook.
“D–Did we run into a ghost?”
Mary felt her scalp tighten, as if it were about to split open. Inside the dark tunnel, a bone–deep chill crawled up her spine.
The taxi continued smoothly down the road. Everything seemed normal. Yet the driver had vanished.
Cold sweat soaked Alexander’s forehead. When he noticed the glow ahead, another realization struck him.
“The brakes!” he roared. “Step on the brakes!”
Nothing happened.
It was as if the accelerator had fused to the floor. The speed kept climbing, surging past 100 miles per hour in the blink of an eye.
The tunnel exit loomed straight ahead.
Mary snapped out of her stupor and lunged forward like a madwoman.
It was already too late.
Under the moonlight, the taxi shot out of the tunnel. A sharp curve waited just beyond the exit, but the car never turned. It slammed straight into the guardrail.

Chapter 184
The impact triggered an explosion of flames. The taxi flipped over the barrier and plunged down the mountainside.
“Ahhh!” Alexander and Mary screamed in despair.
When the spare gasoline in the front passenger compartment ignited, raging fire swallowed them whole.
The taxi tore through a stretch of tree branches.
At last, it struck the ground like a blazing meteor and continued to burn without pause.
