Shock and terror filled Alexander’s eyes as well.

In the back seat of the taxi, he saw two burned, unrecognizable corpses.

In that instant, a bone–piercing chill surged up his spine, and Alexander collapsed to the ground.

“H–How is this possible!” he muttered in disbelief, because he recognized them.

The figures in the back seat were unmistakably the two of them, the mother and son.

Mary asked in a daze, “So what… exactly are we now?”

Before Alexander could respond, a calm voice spoke from nearby. “If I’m not mistaken, you’ve probably turned into wandering spirits.”

Both of them looked over at the same time.

Alexander’s pupils contracted as shock and rage surged together. “Dominic! Why are you here?”

Not far away, under the moonlight, a man approached at an unhurried pace. An ax hung loosely in his hand as he swung it with casual ease.

Dominic drew closer and smiled faintly. “You don’t seem very happy to see me.”

The smile never reached his eyes. They were icy and indifferent.

He had not expected both of them to harbor obsessions strong enough for their souls to manifest after death.

He certainly had not come to help them fulfill those obsessions.

Alexander’s pupils shrank again. As the scene replayed in his mind, realization struck, and he shouted, “It was you! You arranged that driver!”

Dominic sighed. “You guessed right. Shall I reward you with an ax?”

He smiled, lifted the ax, and swung it straight at Alexander.

He moved far too fast.

Alexander’s eyes flew open, and his body locked in place.

Mary screamed, “No!”

The ax came down.

It passed straight through Alexander’s body without leaving a mark.

Alexander froze, then burst into wild laughter. “Hahaha! I get it now. I’m already a ghost!”

Mary recovered as well, her fear melting away. She sneered, “Didn’t expect that, did you? We may be dead, but we’ve become vengeful spirits!”

Dominic glanced at the ax and frowned.

Alexander sneered, “Mom, our misfortune turned into a blessing!”

“Exactly. We’re vengeful spirits now. We can take revenge. First, we scare that little bastard, then deal with them slowly. Not just them, but the entire Grant family of Skyline City too….” Mary’s voice trembled with excitement.

Dominic’s gaze turned frigid. He wasted no time. He bit his finger and smeared fresh blood along the blade of the ax.
