Dominic coughed lightly. “Hey, you misunderstood.”

“Misunderstood? What do you mean?!” Leona still looked frightened.

Tom had been dead for ages, and now someone was asking whether she wanted to see him.

Dominic spoke calmly. “My last name is Fleming. You can call me Mr. Fleming. It would be better to let him speak with you himself.”

With that, he pulled out a strand of hair and handed it to the space beside him.

Leona stared blankly. Then her eyes suddenly widened.

Tom’s figure appeared out of thin air, and Leona jumped to her feet at once.

Tom clutched the strand of hair, dropped to his knees with a thud, and began slapping his own face with his free hand as he cried out, “Leona… I deserve to die. I really deserve to die!”

After a brief shock, Leona slowly sat back down. Her eyes were red. She stared at Tom with cold resentment, her expression hard and unyielding.

Dominic said, “You have ten minutes.”

He stepped outside and closed the door behind him.

Only after Tom had slapped his face until it swelled did Leona sneer. “Why did you come back? Do you want me to forgive you?”

Tom finally stopped. He looked at her in a daze. “Leona…”

“Even if I die, I won’t forgive you. Tom, you bastard!” Leona roared.

All the suffering she had endured because of the man before her surged back at once. She could not hold it in any longer. Tears slid down her face.

Tom’s eyes dimmed. “Leona, I know you won’t forgive me. I just want to… hold her. Is that all right?”

Leona immediately stepped in front of Annie and answered calmly, “Do you deserve that?”

Tom’s body trembled, and his face drained of color.

Leona stared at him for a long moment before she spoke again. “Didn’t you die?”

“I did,” Tom said bitterly. “But I couldn’t stop worrying about you both. I kept wandering here. Mr. Fleming is extraordinary. He can let me appear for a short while.”

Leona glanced toward the door without thinking. Shock surfaced in her eyes.

“I’ve wronged you,” Tom said. “If you hate me, you can hit me. You can even stab me with a knife.”

He was already dead. It would only mean dying one more time.

Leona’s expression remained cold. After a long silence, she stood and said lightly, “Her name is Annie.”

Tom’s face lit up at once. He hurriedly pushed himself up from the floor and carefully lifted the baby into his arms. “Annie… Daddy’s here. Annie…”
