“In our photo frame, there’s a bank card. There’s still some money on it, a little over 110,000 dollars. The password is your birthday.”

As he spoke, he reached under Leona’s bed and deftly pulled out a box. Inside was a photo frame. He opened it, and a card lay quietly within.

Leona stared at him in shock. “How did you know…”

Tom’s voice turned bitter. “After I died, I stayed by your side the whole time.”

Leona looked at him blankly. After a moment, tears burst forth as she cried and scolded, “Tom, you really are a bastard!”

Tom let out a long breath, as if relieved. He looked at Leona and said softly, “The luckiest thing in my life was meeting you. The thing I regret most is letting you down. Leona, I love you.”

With those words, his figure began to blur.

Leona’s heart lurched. Her voice trembled as she asked, “W–What’s happening to you?”

At that moment, Dominic pushed the door open. When he saw the scene, he released a quiet sigh. “His time is up.”

Under their gaze, Tom’s figure gradually faded. In the end, a single strand of hair drifted down and landed on the floor.

Dominic bent down, picked it up, and said, “Take this money and live well. Spend it carefully and find some simple work. It should be enough to raise Annie until she becomes an adult.”

Leona’s expression grew complicated. After a pause, she said, “Mr. Fleming, can you bring Tom back?”

Dominic found the question unexpected. “You want him back? Can you really forgive him?”

Leona gave a desolate smile and looked toward the baby on the bed. “He’s a bastard, but am I any better? We’re both dirty, just as bad as each other. My only wish now is to raise Annie, then stay far away from her.”

Dominic felt a faint stir in his chest.

At that moment, Leona’s smile even looked unexpectedly beautiful.

He gently shook his head. “Sorry. I can’t do that.”

Leona did not seem surprised. “I understand. Life and death exist in different realms. That’s only natural.”

As she spoke, she picked up the card from the floor and rubbed it between her fingers. Her expression turned heavy, as if lost in thought.

Dominic stood up, took a pen and some paper from nearby, and wrote down his phone number. “If you run into any difficulties,

call me.”

With that, he turned and left.

Leona froze for a moment. Then she clutched the paper and instinctively chased after him.

All she saw was Dominic’s retreating back. She opened her mouth, but no words came. She could only watch as he walked farther and farther away.

After a long while, Leona returned inside. She slipped the paper into the box, picked up Annie, and whispered, “Don’t be afraid, Annie. You have an uncle now. He’s amazing. Mommy can finally feel at ease.”

She smiled. A light flickered in her eyes, something that had never been there before.

That light was hope.
