Chapter 209
The veins on Autumn’s forehead throbbed. “I said, behave yourself.”
Jessica pouted. Still, since Autumn had not said she planned to stay, Jessica felt relieved. She patted her chest. “No problem. I’ll definitely behave.”
Autumn’s gaze flickered, tinged with irritation. “Stop patting. You’re making me dizzy.”
With that, she turned and left.
As she walked away, she muttered under her breath, wondering what on earth Jessica had been fed while growing up.
In truth, she had felt a fleeting impulse to move in as well. After giving it some thought, she dismissed the idea.
If she moved in, the place would descend into chaos every day, and Dominic would not like that. More importantly, she had no standing to do so.
She believed she and Dominic were just friends. If she looked a little deeper, she realized she felt a faint fondness for him.
Autumn did not know whether that fondness counted as liking him. In her 21 years, she had never had a boyfriend, not even a crush.
At present, she felt confused and needed time to sort out her thoughts. One thing, however, was certain. Even as a friend, she hoped Dominic could be happy.
After Autumn left, the apartment fell abruptly quiet.
Jessica stayed in her room, tinkering with who knew what, while Isabella sat on the sofa on a video call with Lilith.
On the screen, the girl looked miserable. Her first words tumbled out. “Mommy, I got beaten up!”
Isabella frowned. “What happened?”
“Auntie hit me! Daddy came to pick me up today and I just–Wah!”
Lilith grew more emotional and was about to complain when a fair hand suddenly clamped over her mouth.
Katherine appeared on screen, her cheeks flushed as she snapped, “Try tattling again and see what happens to you!”
Isabella could not find out what happened today. It was far too embarrassing.
Isabella asked curiously, “Sis, what’s going on?”
“Nothing,” Katherine said, her tone hesitant. “I’m bathing Lily. That’s all. I’m hanging up.”
Before Isabella could respond, the call ended.
Isabella stared at her phone and muttered, “What on earth is going on…”
At that moment, Dominic came out holding a mop. “Was that Lily?”
“Yeah. Kathy beat Lilith today. I asked why, but she wouldn’t say,” Isabella replied, baffled.
Dominic fell silent and continued mopping.
Jessica chose that moment to step out of her room, her tone openly flippant. “Dominic, there’s no hot water in the bathroom in my room. I’m going to shower now!”
Dominic looked up, his eyes widening. That young psycho really dared to do it.

She wore only a pale pink set of skimpy clothes and walked with an exaggerated sway, apparently unconcerned that the two thin straps might snap at any moment.
Jessica caught Dominic’s gaze and felt secretly pleased. ‘See? I’m wearing clothes. I’m very well behaved.‘
Isabella leapt to her feet. Furious, she marched over without a word and dragged Jessica into the room despite her fierce
resistance.
