“It’s fine,” Dominic said evenly. “I’m just here to work. As for Zachary, it’s not a big deal.”

They walked side by side. Autumn tilted her head to study him, then nodded. “Okay. If anything happens, call me immediately.”

Dominic smiled. “Of course.”

After that, they went to eat together.

Along the way, Dominic’s thoughts drifted. JewelMed had just announced it would cancel its collaboration with the Garcia Group next month. Almost immediately, news broke that the company would partner with Zachary instead.

Did Jewel have some kind of fixation? She had been perfectly safe under the Garcia Group’s protection, especially since the company belonged to her sister and brother–in–law.

Autumn sat in the passenger seat and let out a sigh. “I told my aunt that Zachary is no good. I suggested cutting ties, but she’s really stubborn. I honestly don’t know what she’s thinking.”

Dominic smiled faintly. “Miss Wright must have her own plans. No matter how much you worry, it won’t change anything.”

“I know,” Autumn said. “But she’s still my aunt. Now she’s in conflict with my dad, and I’m stuck in the middle. It’s exhausting.”

That surprised Dominic.

“Don’t overthink it, Autumn,” he said. “You haven’t even graduated yet. Besides, even if she fails, do you really think your parents would let her starve? They’d step in without hesitation.”

Autumn nodded. “You’re right. I’m probably worrying too much. By the way, Jessica is staying with you. She’s behaving herself, right?”

He shook the thought away, composed himself, and nodded with solemn conviction. “I’m very well–behaved.”

Autumn’s expression darkened. “I wasn’t asking about you.”

Dominic chuckled. “Everyone’s about the same. Very well–behaved.”

“That’s good.” Autumn finally relaxed and asked, “So what are we eating?”

“Anything.”
