Chapter 357
Katherine noticed him come through the door and froze for a moment. She quickly turned to the camera and said, “I have something urgent to deal with, so I’m ending the stream for now.”
She cut the livestream, stood up, and asked, “Dominic, you’re discharged already? Why didn’t you tell me? I could have picked you up.”
Dominic smiled. “I’m not a kid. I can get home by myself, can’t I?”
A housekeeping company had already cleaned the house, and everything looked much the same as it had before.
“Have you eaten?” Dominic asked as he walked inside.
“Not yet,” Katherine said. “I was just about to order takeout.”
“Why order takeout? I’ll cook.”
Dominic went into the kitchen to check what was available, but there was little he could use. The vegetables in the fridge had spoiled after sitting there for so many days.
“I’ll go out and buy some groceries,” he said.
“I’ll go with you,” Katherine replied. “After that, we can pick Lily up and bring her home.”
Dominic did not object.
It was only 3:30 p.m. Lily was still at school, and Isabella was at the company.
While they were in the car, Dominic asked, “Katherine, is Isabella still living here?”
Katherine hesitated, then nodded. “She’s still sharing a room with Lily.”
Dominic frowned, his expression cooling. “I really don’t know what she’s thir….
He had already moved all her things to Riverside Residence, yet she still stayed here without shame. The thought left him deeply irritated.
Katherine had no response and stayed quiet.
They stopped at the supermarket and browsed the fresh food section together.
A middle–aged woman in a supermarket uniform approached them with a friendly smile. “Hello. We’re running a promotion today. Barbecue beef jerky, buy one pound and get one free. It’s all fresh.”
She held a tray of beef cubes on toothpicks. They looked fragrant and tempting.
Dominic smiled and waved her off. He disliked ready–to–eat food and preferred to buy fresh ingredients
to cook at home.
She refused to give up. When she saw Dominic’s firm refusal, she turned to Katherine instead and gave

her a playful wink. “Oh, don’t be like that. You two should really get some. Miss, barbecue beef isn’t just delicious. It boosts virility and nourishes the kidneys. Have your husband eat it, and I promise you’ll be shouting yourself hoarse.”
Katherine’s face flushed brightly.
As the woman prepared to continue, Dominic hurried to explain. “Um, we’re not-”
“B–Buy some!” Katherine cut him off. The words came out suddenly, her voice trembling.
Dominic stared at her in disbelief. Beef and virility had nothing to do with them. Even if it did, his health was excellent. He certainly did not need anything like that.
Whatever he thought, Katherine’s cheeks remained flushed. She kept her head down, avoided his gaze, and quietly paid.
Once they left the supermarket, Katherine spoke in a soft voice. “It wasn’t expensive, and there was a promotion. I like beef anyway, so I bought some as a snack.”
The explanation lacked conviction.
Dominic did not press her on it.
They drove next to Blossom Elementary. There was still time before Lily was dismissed.
After Dominic parked the car, a craving for a cigarette surfaced. With Katherine still inside, he stepped out to light one.
At that moment, a young man spotted him. His eyes lit up, and he rushed over.
The young man dropped to his knees the instant he reached Dominic.
Dominic froze. “What are you doing?”
The young man said nothing and looked at him intently.
Dominic recognized him. He was the hotdog vendor’s son from that day.
