Lydia nodded obediently. “Okay!”

Dominic stepped out of the car and waved to Isabella.

Her eyes lit up at once, and she hurried over, smiling brightly. “Honey!”

Dominic sidestepped her embrace and walked a short distance away. After confirming no one else could hear them, he spoke evenly. “Isabella, from now on, no matter what happens, stay out of my affairs.”

She had not expected that. The happiness drained from her face.

“Honey… how can I not care about your affairs? That Lydia clearly has bad intentions. You have to be careful around her…”

Although he had scolded her many times because of Lydia, she still refused to back down.

Dominic lit a cigarette and fell silent for a moment before speaking again. “I know.”

“You know, honey?” Isabella’s eyes widened.

Dominic smiled faintly. “Including today, when I came here and happened to run into you and Zachary. Don’t you think that’s a bit too coincidental?”

Isabella waved her hands in a panic. “Honey, there’s nothing between me and Zachary. Don’t misunderstand!”

Zachary.”

Isabella froze, her lips trembling. “Honey, what are you talking about? What’s going to happen?”

“I don’t know,” Dominic said, shaking his head. “But things won’t stay peaceful. Too many people want to see me fall.”

“So you’re drawing the snake out of its hole?” Isabella grasped it immediately and shook her head hard. “No, no. Honey, you can’t put yourself at risk like this…”

“Are you trying to tell me how to handle my own affairs?” Dominic frowned, irritation flashing across his face. “I’m informing you so you don’t act behind my back. I’m not asking for your opinion. Do you understand?”

“I understand.” Isabella’s expression grew solemn. “But if your safety is involved, I can’t just obey. You absolutely can’t-”

“Damn it!” Her stubbornness pushed Dominic to the edge, and he pointed at her. “Isabella, can you stop being so selt- righteous?”

She ignored his words, her face tight with worry. “Honey, I can’t stand by and watch you put yourself in danger. If you’re in trouble, tell me. We can face it together, okay?”

“Fine, I’ll tell you.” Dominic gnashed his teeth. “Benjamin isn’t dead. He’s hiding in the shadows, waiting for a chance to kill me. Can you face him with me?”

Isabella cried out instinctively, “That’s impossible…”

Dominic let out a cold laugh. “See? I tell you the truth, and you still don’t believe me. How exactly are you supposed to face it

with me?”

She waved her hands again, her voice unsteady. “No, honey, Benjamin can’t be alive. And how could he possibly stand against you?”

“That’s enough.” Dominic shook his head, impatience clear in his expression. “Just remember this. No matter what happens, do not act against Lydia or Zachary. If you do, you’ll bear the consequences yourself.”

With that, he turned and walked away.

“Honey!” Isabella called after him, wanting to say more, but Dominic never slowed.

She could only stand there and watch as the old car disappeared down the road.
