Katherine shivered but did not answer.
Dominic sat down beside her, hoping to be close to her again, like yesterday.
But Katherine suddenly said, “Stay away from me.”
Dominic froze. The cold, indifferent look on her face stopped him from moving any closer. He asked cautiously, “Where did you go today?”
“Does it have anything to do with you?” Her voice remained icy, pushing him away and keeping him at a distance.
Dominic sighed helplessly and tried again. “Earlier… they said you agreed to a blind date. What’s that about?”
He avoided mentioning Isabella’s name, afraid it might upset her.
Katherine sneered. “I’m 29. Isn’t it normal to find someone suitable to marry?”
“Of course not!” Dominic replied without hesitation.
Only then did Katherine turn her head. She looked him up and down, her eyes filled with disdain. “Dominic, you really are shameless. You want both?”
Dominic’s face twitched. “I was drunk last night.”
“Drunk?” Katherine let out a cold laugh. “So being drunk gives you an excuse to act recklessly? Pathetic. You might as well admit you can’t let Isabella go. I might even respect you more.”
Dominic grabbed her hand, trying to explain. “Last night, when I went into your room, I thought… the person in the bed was you. I didn’t expect Isabella to be there.”
“Let go of me!” Katherine shook off his hand, her expression blank.
Dominic pressed on. “I really was drunk. I mistook her for you. I… never intended to continue anything with Isabella. I didn’t lie to you.”
Katherine’s eyes trembled when she heard this.
Dominic looked at her with hope, waiting for forgiveness.
She remained silent for several seconds before speaking. “Don’t tell Isabella that. She loves you, and she’s happy today. Don’t disappoint her.”
“And you?”
“Me?” Katherine lifted her gaze to the moon hanging in the night sky. A faint, bitter smile touched her lips. “I’ll stay like this. Nothing has meaning anymore. Nothing matters.”
Dominic panicked. “How can nothing matter?”
He reached out to hug her, but Katherine dodged him.
Biting her lip as tears rolled down her cheeks, she said, “Dominic, whether you mistook her for me or not, it already happened. Do you understand?”
Dominic felt as if he had been struck by lightning.
The scene echoed Isabella’s situation.
No matter what Isabella believed, it still led to Alexander’s incident. As he often said, it was as if he had already died once. How could he forgive that?

This time was the same. Dominic had already slept with Isabella. No matter the reason, some things could never be undone.
Katherine closed her eyes in pain, tears falling one after another. “In the future, just live well with Isabella. I won’t return to Skyline City this time. Let’s pretend everything that happened was only a dream.”
She stood and walked toward the house.
Dominic instinctively reached out to stop her, but his lips parted and no words came out.
Pretend nothing had happened? That would only insult Katherine.
After a long while, Dominic shook his head in despair and sat there in silence.
Suddenly, someone sat down beside him.
Dominic thought Katherine had returned, and a spark of joy rose in his chest. But when he turned, he saw Isabella’s flawless, delicate face instead.
She blinked and said, “Honey, aren’t you happy that I’m the one who came?”
Dominic did not know how to respond, so he remained silent.
Isabella giggled and wrapped her arms around his. “Hey, it’s just a broken heart. No big deal. Look on the bright side. It’ll be fine later!”
