Dominic tossed and turned, unable to fall asleep.

At last, he sat up, went to the window, and lit a cigarette. He watched the distant city lights as his gaze slowly steadied.

Katherine’s image lingered in his mind. Every smile and frown remained vivid.

He finished the cigarette and drew a deep breath. A sharp, resolute look settled in his eyes. He wasn’t some pathetic simp. He could not keep chasing her and hoping for forgiveness. He had to take the initiative.

The next morning, Dominic woke around 9:00 a.m.

When he went downstairs, he found Katherine in the dining room, eating breakfast at an unhurried pace.

He walked over. “Morning, Katherine.”

She glanced at him without replying.

He tried again. “How’s the breakfast? Better than what I make?”

Katherine slammed her plate onto the table, rose, and left at once.

Dominic had been completely ignored, but he did not mind. He smiled and asked a nearby maid, “Has Lily come downstairs?”

The maid replied, “Ms. Isabella and Miss Lily finished breakfast and went out.”

Dominic nodded, took Katherine’s seat, and began to eat.

After deciding on a course of action the night before, he no longer felt the same urgency to chase her. He needed stronger measures. These small attempts were pointless.

When he finished breakfast, he went to the living room and found only Yvonne on the sofa.

Dominic’s expression did not change. “Are you bored?”

“You!” Yvonne’s pupils tightened as anger surfaced in her eyes. “Dominic, don’t think Isabella’s protection means you can do whatever you want.”

Dominic replied with quiet meaning, “I remember everything that happened before. Some debts will be settled sooner or later.”

Yvonne curled her lips. “Fine. I’ll wait. But let me tell you one more thing. Without Isabella, you’re nothing.”

Dominic raised a brow. “What did you say? I didn’t hear you clearly.”

Yvonne continued, a malicious smile spreading across her face, “I said that without Isabella, you’re nothing but a useless piece of trash.”

“Is that so?” A cold voice sounded from behind them, and Yvonne stiffened.

She turned and saw Leticia standing not far away. Her expression changed at once. She stood quickly and forced a stiff smile. ” Mother, when did you come downstairs?”
