“My last name is Sinclair!”
Those five words carried undeniable weight in Eastmere.
Whether it was James of the older generation or Oliver of the current one, both stood as renowned figures in Eastmere. The higher a person’s social standing, the less willing they were to provoke anyone from the Sinclair family.
And the stunning woman before him was the true eldest daughter of the Sinclairs.
Marcus understood. He had become nothing more than a prop in their exchange, and the realization stung with sharp humiliation.
A second earlier, he had been considering how to win the Sinclair heiress over. Now, he forced out a smile that looked worse than a grimace.
Marcus clenched his fists so tightly the strain throbbed through his chest. “Well… since you’ve spoken, Miss Sinclair, I’ll respect
your say.”
Katherine nodded, satisfied, her tone softening into polite apology. “Thank you for your generosity, Mr. Parker.”
“Well… I still have matters to attend to, so I’ll take my leave. Sorry for the poor hospitality,” Marcus said.
“You’re too polite.” Katherine made no move to stop him and simply smiled.
Marcus turned at once and left. Outside, the more he thought about it, the stronger his resentment grew.
He stood at the restaurant entrance for a long moment. At last, he gritted his teeth, turned around, and walked back inside.
A waiter approached. “Sir, how may I help you?”
“Peacok Court private room. I’m paying the bill,” Marcus answered, his voice edged with bitterness.
Inside the private room…
After dealing with Marcus, Katherine turned to Dominic, her voice cold. “Happy now?”
Dominic grinned. “You shouldn’t have stepped in. Wouldn’t it have been better if he had someone beat me up?”
“You-” At his words, Katherine’s eyes reddened at once, and she turned to leave.
Dominic caught her soft hand.
Katherine struggled. “Let go!”
Dominic had already thought things through the night before. He had no intention of repeating past mistakes. He tightened his grip.
“Ah!” Katherine cried out in surprise as she lost her balance and fell into his arms.
Dominic said, “Let’s talk this through. No need to rush off.”
Katherine’s heart raced. She struggled, but Dominic’s strength held firm. Even ten people might not have broken free from his grip.
Flustered and angry, she struck him twice, tears slipping down as she choked out, “You’re such a bully.”
“That’s not fair,” Dominic replied quickly. “When have I ever bullied you?”
Katherine sniffed. “Dominic, do you know?”

“Know what?” he asked, puzzled.
Katherine let out a cold laugh. “According to criminal psychology, when a suspect says ‘that’s not fair,‘ it usually means they’re no longer innocent. Especially when they’ve been caught red–handed with solid evidence, What is there left to argue?”
Dominic exhaled softly and guided Katherine into the chair in front of him. “Then let’s discuss it properly.”
Katherine did not try to leave this time. He had already pulled her into his arms. She wanted to hear what kind of reasoning he
would offer.
