Dominic stared at the empty liquor bottle on the table. He walked over, picked it up, and said evenly, “Go to bed. We’ll talk when you’re sober tomorrow.”

“Talk about what?” Isabella’s voice trembled as she sobered slightly, eyes wide and unfocused.

“You’ve already seen the copy of the lawsuit,” Dominic said. “It’s time to talk about the divorce. I’ll be moving out next week.”

Isabella shot to her feet, her reddened eyes flashing as she shouted, “You’re moving out? Where are you going? I don’t agree!”

Dominic frowned and glanced toward Lilith’s room. “Keep your voice down. You’ve been drinking. I don’t want to argue right now. Whatever you have to say, we’ll talk calmly tomorrow.”

Isabella trembled, her chest tightening until it hurt. She clutched his arm, pleading, “Honey, don’t do this. I can’t live without you. I love you, Dom.”

Tears streaked down her face. “Have you forgotten our years together? Can you really abandon me? Can you bear to let Lily lose her mom or dad?”

Dominic’s expression softened for a moment.

How could he not feel heartache? Eight years of love—gone.

He and Isabella had been each other’s firsts, each other’s first love. Ending it cut deep, even for him.

After a few seconds of silence, his gaze hardened again.

Ice three feet thick doesn’t form overnight. This wasn’t a sudden decision it was the result of Isabella’s choices over the past three months. He had been patient. He had given her chances. But the last mistake had nearly cost him his life. He couldn’t risk another.

“Isabella, we’re adults. We have to take responsibility for our decisions and accept the consequences,” he said in a low voice.

“I can’t accept this consequence,” she whispered, shaking her head in anguish. Even drunk, the thought of divorce tore at her heart.

“I’m not negotiating with you,” Dominic said coldly,

“I’m not listening!” Isabella cried, clinging to him desperately. “I don’t want you to leave. You’re my husband. We’ll grow old together and never part!”

Her eyes, hazy from alcohol, locked on his face with frantic obsession.

Dominic tried to pull free, but she held him too tightly. After a pause, he sighed, then lifted her into his arms and carried her to the master bedroom.

“You’re drunk,” he said firmly. “We’ll talk tomorrow.”

“Honey… don’t go. Stay with me… sleep here…” Isabella reached out from the bed, her voice slurred and pleading.

Dominic shook his head, turned, and left the room, closing the door behind him. He cleaned up the dining table before heading to Lilith’s room.
