She Left She Thrived She’s Worth Billions novel Chapter 1015

Melanie heard what Daphne said through the phone and immediately waved her hands in refusal.

Daphne and Everett were having a romantic date; why on earth would she go and be the third wheel?

Noticing Melanie's clear refusal, Everett directly asked Daphne on the other end of the line, "...You wouldn't mind?"

Daphne paused.

"Mind what? Oh, you mean Melanie! Of course I wouldn't mind."

As far as Daphne was concerned, even though she really wanted alone time with Everett, Melanie was her best friend. She was actually quite worried that focusing entirely on Everett might make Melanie feel left out.

Now that the opportunity presented itself, having the three of them grab a meal together didn't seem like a bad idea.

With Daphne's approval, Everett turned to Melanie and stated bluntly, "Daphne said she doesn't mind."

Melanie: ...

Staring at Everett, Melanie couldn't figure out if he was genuinely this clueless or just playing dumb.

With the way he asked, anyone would say they didn't mind.

Was Daphne really supposed to say she did mind?

Melanie let out a resigned sigh.

"Fine, fine..."

Since both Everett and Daphne were inviting her, refusing might actually make Daphne overthink things.

And so, Melanie and Everett arrived together at the restaurant Daphne had booked.

It was a Western-style restaurant with a pretty nice ambiance.

However, to Melanie's memory, Daphne had never been a fan of Western food.

Today, Daphne was wearing an elegant, mature coffee-colored dress.

Melanie could tell that ever since Daphne became Everett's girlfriend, she had been trying hard to change herself.

She was making herself fit Everett's preferences, especially when it came to her wardrobe.

Sure, there was a saying that people dressed up for the ones they loved.

But wasn't Daphne suppressing her true self a little too much?

To Melanie, dating was about two people who liked each other going through a process of adjustment.

Truth be told, her steak-cutting skills weren't even that great.

But she felt that, as Everett's girlfriend, she needed to act gentle and considerate.

So every time they ate Western food, she would proactively cut his steak for him.

At first, Everett would politely decline, but over time, he had simply gotten used to it.

Watching Everett clumsily hack away at his steak, Daphne couldn't help but laugh. "Honestly, why are you being so polite with me?"

Everett didn't say a word.

Melanie looked at Daphne, then back at Everett, her eyes filled with obvious concern.

Right now, Everett wasn't letting Daphne cut his steak.

But he was only cutting his own portion, showing absolutely zero intention of doing anything for Daphne in return.

Melanie's mind immediately went to Preston.

Preston would always cut his own steak perfectly and then swap plates with her, unless she specifically told him not to.
