Daphne stuck her tongue out playfully with a grin.
The tension between them eased considerably. Earlier, Daphne had felt a suffocating heaviness in the air, terrified that Everett absolutely hated shopping with her.
After all, not many guys actually enjoyed it.
"Let's head downstairs!"
"Downstairs?"
Daphne blinked in pure confusion.
"But didn't we just come up from downstairs?"
She was right. They had just finished browsing the women's section on the third floor before moving to the men's section on the fourth.
Everett's lips parted, hesitating as if he wanted to say something but couldn't find the words.
"Let's just... look around a bit more."
"But downstairs is all women's clothing!"
"Yeah... let's look at more women's clothing."
Daphne noticed that Everett wouldn't quite meet her eyes, his gaze lowered as if he were feeling guilty about something.
Even though she didn't fully understand what was going on, since Everett wanted to keep walking, she was more than happy to tag along.
And so, the two of them descended back to the third floor.
They had already passed by most of these stores earlier, except for one that they hadn't stepped inside.
It was tucked away in a corner but took up a significant amount of space. The interior design screamed high-end, making it glaringly obvious that nothing inside was cheap.
Furthermore, this store had already stocked their autumn collection, and even featured heavy wool coats meant for the dead of winter.
Daphne had assumed she didn't need anything like that yet, and she was slightly intimidated by the potential price tags, which was why she had intentionally bypassed it earlier.
With her arm linked through his, she felt Everett subtly steering them toward that very store.
"What's wrong?"
Everett asked softly, noticing her steps slowing down in hesitation.
"That place looks a little pricey. We probably shouldn't go in."
Seeing the reluctance on her face, Everett suddenly became insistent.
Ever since she started dating Everett, she had been so laser-focused on looking elegant and sophisticated that she had bought nothing but dresses.
But with summer rapidly coming to an end, it was high time she picked up some stylish pieces for the colder months.
"How much is this coat?"
Daphne asked casually.
A sales associate walked over and checked the tag.
"With the current discount, it's a little over nine thousand dollars. It's blended with camel hair, so it's a fantastic deal."
Daphne pursed her lips.
She knew camel hair fabric ran on the expensive side. For a coat this long, staying under ten grand was probably a fair price.
But...
She simply didn't have that kind of cash on her right now, so she decided to let it go.
"Why don't you try it on first?"
Suddenly, Everett's voice sounded right behind her.
