It just so happened that there was a decent store they hadn't visited yet.
And it just so happened that Daphne had her eye on that expensive camel hair coat.
A price tag of nearly ten thousand dollars wasn't exactly cheap, but it wasn't something Everett couldn't afford.
Everything had aligned perfectly, and Everett felt that the coat served as both an appropriate apology and a return gift.
So, he bought it without hesitation.
Daphne seemed thrilled.
Reflecting on it, Everett realized that ever since they started dating, Daphne had never once asked him for a single thing.
And he had never taken the initiative to give her anything, either.
If it were any other woman, she would have thrown a massive fit by now.
Everett silently reminded himself to step up and fulfill his duties as a boyfriend.
He needed to be attentive when required, and spend money when appropriate.
Repeating that mantra in his head, he let out a quiet, breathless sigh.
It was a bit exhausting...
Walking beside him, Daphne was completely lost in the joy of receiving such an expensive gift. She didn't catch the fleeting look of exhaustion that crossed his face.
The Lockridge Group.
At this very moment, Dominic Hale was standing in Holden Lockridge's office, groveling for forgiveness.
"I'm so sorry, Grandpa!"
Dominic bowed deeply, his tone deadly serious.
"With Gavin suspended, I should have stepped up to lead the company. Instead, I let my argument with Leila Langley push me to drown my sorrows in alcohol..."
"I've failed you, Grandpa, after everything you've done to groom and support me. I know I was wrong, and I beg your forgiveness for wasting away these past few days. I swear I'll work twice as hard from now on!"
Watching Dominic raise his hand in a solemn vow, Holden offered a sly, fox-like smile and waved him off dismissively.
"Alright, alright! It's not the end of the world. You had a little too much to drink, that's all. Just watch yourself going forward."
"Thank you, Grandpa!"
"Oh, stop selling yourself short!"
Seeing Holden's empty cup, Dominic quickly refilled it.
Holden chuckled, deeply satisfied.
"You see? This right here is where you outshine Gavin... You actually know how to show respect!"
Holden continued to drink, downing five or six cups in a row.
"Dominic, my boy, I have high hopes for you. While Gavin is on suspension, I need you to step up and manage the company. The future of the Lockridge Group... depends on you and Gavin working together as one!"
"You can count on me, Grandpa."
Dominic patted his chest earnestly.
"I owe the Lockridge family everything. I will do whatever it takes to support Gavin."
"Good boy."
Praising him once more, Holden watched as Dominic silently refilled his cup again.
