She Left She Thrived She’s Worth Billions novel Chapter 1038

Faced with the mocking provocation, Preston remained silent.

Sebastian had suspected from the start that this guy was no ordinary assistant.

But he had seriously underestimated the sheer weight of his presence.

Stared down by those dark, intense eyes, a chill actually crawled up Sebastian's spine.

The oppressive aura wasn't just about wealth or status.

It came purely from the man himself.

There was a very real, unfiltered murderous intent lurking in those pitch-black depths.

As if he'd gladly put a bullet between Sebastian's eyes if he had a gun on him.

Subconsciously, Sebastian raised his hands in a placating gesture and took a step back with a dry chuckle.

The music played on, but the surrounding couples had picked up on the sudden, blazing tension between the three of them, awkwardly hesitating over whether to keep dancing or stop.

"Preston, what are you—"

Before Melanie could finish, she was being hauled away from the statue.

"Let me go!"

She struggled against his grip with every step he forced her to take.

"You're hurting me!"

Even when she shouted, his grip didn't loosen a fraction.

This was the first time he had ever been so physically domineering, completely ignoring her protests. It left her entirely disoriented.

She wasn't lying.

He was genuinely hurting her.

She almost felt like he was going to dislocate her arm.

Yet, no matter how hard she fought, he acted as if he was deaf to it all.

Melanie's temper finally flared.

"I said let go!"

She ripped her arm out of his grasp.

"Dancing with him or dancing with you, it's just a dance! What's the difference?!"

As soon as the words left her mouth, she saw his eyes widen, utterly stricken with disbelief.

She unconsciously bit her lip.

Why was he looking at her like that?

Did she say something wrong?

The night sky was pitch black.

This part of the beach was remote, far from the light of the bonfires.

In the dimness, it felt as though she couldn't even clearly see the raw emotion in his eyes anymore.

The suffocating tension between them felt as heavy as stone, making even the salty sea breeze hard to stomach.

They stood in a stifling silence until he finally spoke.

"The local legend... on a couple's ten-year anniversary, if they complete a full circle around The Statue of Amora doing The Lunarian Waltz after sunset... their love will be blessed by the goddess. They'll be bound together, forever, until they grow old..."

His voice was thick with bitter sorrow, and as he spoke, her eyes grew wider and wider.
