Melanie blinked, her eyes widening.
She was no longer in first place.
Not Schrödinger's Pill.
It was now Aria.
"Huh?"
Melanie tilted her head, staring at her phone screen in confusion.
"What in the world is going on?"
She tried to navigate the app, only to find a notification saying her account had been frozen.
"...Seriously?"
Melanie looked utterly deadpan.
"Come on, if you can't afford the payout, just say so! What a waste of my time."
She assumed the organizers simply didn't want to hand over the millions in prize money, so they had frozen her account.
"But wait... that doesn't make sense..."
If they really wanted to avoid paying, freezing only her account wouldn't solve the problem.
After all, stripping her of first place just meant the runner-up would take it. They still had to pay out!
Melanie looked at Aria's name now sitting at the top spot, deep in thought.
"So... someone is pulling strings behind the scenes?"
As she muttered to herself, she swiped down on the screen.
The page refreshed, and her eyes widened once more.
The number one spot had reverted back to Schrödinger's Pill.
Melanie tilted her head again.
She couldn't make sense of this bizarre turn of events.
"Is this app run by a bunch of amateurs?"
How could such a sketchy app offer millions in prize money?!
The more she thought about it, the shadier it all seemed.
Just then, she noticed an official statement released by the organizers.
Just as she said that, a message from Elias Carter popped up on her phone:
[Oracle, the millions have been received. All the data and samples for the targeted drug have been packaged and sent your way!]
Melanie was stunned.
"I take back what I said. This app isn't amateur hour at all. They are highly efficient and incredibly wealthy!"
Speaking aloud, Melanie opened the Global Pharma Forum managed by the IFPMA, auto-logging into her Schrödinger's Pill account.
The forum was already boiling over with discussions.
Most were expressing envy and admiration for Schrödinger's Pill.
The rest were vehemently condemning Aria.
"I knew it! 'A new genius' my ass, she was just cheating!"
"No wonder she answered so fast and accurately, she had the answers beforehand!"
"She turned a closed-book exam into an open-book one! Banning her is completely justified."
"I remember now... I finally remember who Aria is."
