At the Lockridge Group's staff apartments.
Aria furiously threw the expensive men's coat onto the sofa.
A second later, a sharp pang of regret hit her, and she scrambled to pick it up again.
The memory of her humiliation at the boutique made her blood boil.
Thousands of dollars...
She had thrown away thousands of dollars and hadn't gotten even a sliver of gratitude from Preston in return.
"Ugh!"
She let out a piercing scream of frustration, panting as if she had run a marathon.
Carefully hanging the luxurious coat in her tiny closet, Aria was torn.
Should she go back to the store tomorrow and beg for a refund?
Or try to sell it secondhand?
"This is all Melanie's fault..."
Aria muttered, her teeth grinding together.
She had fallen from being the second Royce daughter to living in a cramped, miserable corporate dorm.
And Melanie was to blame for all of it!
Sitting on the narrow twin bed in the dark room, her expression turned venomous. She pulled out her phone and made a call.
At the Royce Group.
Melanie had set aside all her regular work today to focus entirely on a stack of documents.
The files had nothing to do with the Royce Group.
They were all about the Lockridge Group.
Sipping the exceptionally delicious coffee Preston had brewed for her, Melanie couldn't help but smile.
"Can the man actually read my mind?"
She murmured with a laugh, instinctively touching her stomach.
She didn't have a tapeworm, only excellent coffee.
She said this because her original plan had been to spend the next few days gathering intel on the Lockridge Group, Dominic, and Aria.
