Sitting across from Daphne and Sam, Melanie quietly watched the couple decide what to order.
She recalled Daphne mentioning how considerate Sam was, always asking what she wanted to eat first whenever they went out.
Melanie was quite curious to see just how 'considerate' Sam really was.
"Babe, what are you in the mood for?"
Sam proactively asked Daphne.
"Hmm... I'd love some Pickled Kelp Strips, maybe some tripe, and then this... oh, and this. I also really want to try the Premium Ribeye Skewers."
Daphne eagerly pointed at the menu.
Melanie had glanced at it earlier and noticed the Premium Ribeye Skewers were the restaurant's signature item.
"The ribeye sounds good, yeah... but twelve dollars for a single skewer? Isn't that a rip-off? Not worth it, not worth it. I'll just buy some from the butcher and grill it for you next time."
"Oh, okay. You've got a point."
"And the Pickled Kelp Strips aren't that great in a hot pot anyway. The flavor doesn't soak in right, let's skip those."
"Hmm..."
"Let's swap those two for these instead!"
"..."
"Yeah, the fish balls here are solid. Let's get a few extra skewers of those, you'll definitely like them."
"Mm..."
"Oh, and that tripe you mentioned, we can keep that. I like it too."
Melanie crossed her arms, watching the ordering process in silence, her brow furrowing deeper by the second.
Meanwhile, Preston arrived at the private club Gabriel had been frequenting lately.
"Well, color me shocked. You actually agreed to grab dinner with me, man. I'm so touched I could cry..."
Gabriel laid it on thick, theatrically wiping fake tears away with his sleeve. Preston just stared at him, utterly unimpressed.
