She Left She Thrived She’s Worth Billions novel Chapter 153

You'd think Gabriel was here for a blind date.

What was he doing here?

Dominic scowled and crossed his arms.

Even if he didn't love Melanie, she was still his wife.

He didn't like seeing other men constantly hovering around her.

All eyes were fixed on Gabriel.

But Gabriel only had eyes for Melanie.

With one hand in his pocket, he strode confidently over to her.

"Ms. Royce, you look absolutely beautiful today…"

As he complimented her, Gabriel's eyes swept over Melanie with an astonished gaze.

"This outfit looks incredible on you. It's just like you, Ms. Royce—you have such great taste."

"Thank you for the compliment."

Melanie gave Gabriel a polite nod.

Although she loved the suit herself, it wasn't from some major luxury brand.

For someone as unbelievably wealthy as Gabriel, it should have been a common sight.

No matter how she looked at it, his level of praise seemed excessive.

"This is the proper way to dress for a business reception—it's intelligent, sharp, and still fashionable…"

As he spoke, Gabriel shot a disdainful look at Evelyn.

"Not like some people, who insist on showing off too much skin and dripping with jewelry… so tacky."

Melanie glanced at Evelyn and saw that she had gone pale with anger.

In truth, Evelyn's outfit tonight was quite elegant, and she hadn't gone overboard with flashy and ostentatious details like she used to.

Melanie could tell that Gabriel's comments about Evelyn were colored by a strong personal bias.

She just didn't understand why he harbored such animosity toward her.

Following Gabriel's critique, many of the other female guests began to examine Melanie's purple suit.

"It really is quite nice. I wonder what brand it is. I'd love to get one for myself."

Could he have actually fallen for her?

Evelyn was so angry she squeezed her dress, then immediately regretted wrinkling the expensive fabric and began fussing with the hem.

Dominic glanced at the flustered Evelyn but said nothing and didn't go over to help.

He looked at Melanie.

Bathed in the spotlight, Melanie was indeed beautiful.

Her beauty was refined, unconventional, and utterly unique.

Dominic suddenly understood. Melanie hadn't worn this suit to the reception to deliberately retaliate against him or to embarrass him, as Evelyn had claimed.

Melanie wore it because she knew Adrian Mercer would be introducing the person who improved the bioprinter to the guests, and this outfit better suited the image of a professional at the top of her field.

Even if Melanie had a classmate help with the modifications, she still deserved part of the credit.

The more Dominic thought about it, the more he realized he had misunderstood Melanie.

Just as he was about to approach her and try to get on her good side, Gabriel had already stepped onto the stage and taken the microphone.

"I'm announcing that Stellaris PharmaTech is investing in Adrian Mercer's workshop."
