She Left She Thrived She’s Worth Billions novel Chapter 165

She had just been making casual conversation, but Evelyn kept jumping in, her interjections pointed and serious. It was clear she was competing with her.

Melanie could see that Evelyn was doing everything in her power to stop her from closing this deal.

The harder Evelyn tried, the more ridiculous Melanie found it.

After all, this project had been tailor-made by her, for Dominic and Evelyn, from the very beginning.

Letting out a bored yawn, Melanie pulled out her phone. A news alert had just been pushed to her screen:

“Stellaris PharmaTech establishes a new subsidiary, independent of the parent company’s management system, aimed at collaborating with Adrian Mercer's studio on the development of a new anti-cancer drug.”

Melanie blinked.

Stellaris PharmaTech was playing for keeps.

Dominic also took out his phone to check the business news and saw the same press release.

“How is this possible…”

“Why wouldn't it be possible?”

Gabriel’s voice cut in abruptly.

Melanie, Dominic, and the others looked up in unison to see Gabriel standing at their table. He leaned one hand on the table, tilting his head as he looked at Melanie with keen interest.

“Ms. Royce, what a coincidence. We meet again.”

“Hello, Mr. Whitmore,” Melanie greeted him politely.

“Ms. Royce, it’s only a matter of time before Stellaris PharmaTech secures Adrian Mercer’s new project. I greatly admire your talent. I wonder if you would be willing to come work for us at Stellaris? I’ll put you in charge of the entire Mercer project. I guarantee, as a vice president, that no one will get in your way or hold you back.”

After delivering this powerful speech, Gabriel deliberately glanced at Evelyn.

Melanie was surprised.

Could it be that all of Gabriel's previous attentiveness wasn't about trying to pick her up, but to poach her?

But she had asked Elias before, and he swore he hadn't revealed her identity.

If Gabriel didn’t know she was the genius known as Schrödinger’s Pill, then why was he so determined to recruit her?

Was it because of her undergraduate degree?

She knew what a divorce was, of course.

But she didn’t understand what Dominic meant.

Dominic had emphasized it over and over—

He would not divorce Melanie.

But if they never got a divorce, did that mean she would never be able to call Dominic her father?

Would she always be a girl without a dad?

The buffet had been enjoyable, but now, thinking about this, Lila couldn’t stop the tears from rolling down her cheeks.

Dominic had no time to worry about Lila right now.

He got a call from Gregory.

“What are you still doing dawdling with background checks? Stellaris PharmaTech is about to invest before us!”
