She Left She Thrived She’s Worth Billions novel Chapter 168

“Evelyn!”

As Evelyn turned to leave, Dominic pulled her into a tight, desperate hug.

With her back to him, a smile touched Evelyn’s lips.

“What do you mean you and our daughter have nothing to do with me anymore? I’m your husband! I’m Lila’s biological father!”

Dominic’s voice was choked with emotion.

He knew that Evelyn and Lila had suffered far too much because of him over the years.

He had failed them.

“Evelyn, let me explain…”

Dominic pressed his lips close to her ear, his voice gentle and sincere.

“When I said this was beneficial… I wasn’t talking about how much money Melanie made for the Hale Group. I don’t care about the money at all.”

Seeing that Evelyn had calmed down in his arms and was no longer struggling, seeming willing to listen, Dominic breathed a secret sigh of relief and slowly let her go.

He then led Evelyn and Lila to the chairs in the lounge.

Evelyn remained silent.

Lila, ever perceptive, didn’t make a sound either.

With a chance to explain, Dominic began, speaking slowly and deliberately.

“The only reason my parents favor Melanie is because her family’s connections through Nathaniel can bring immense benefits and profits to the Hale Group.”

“I’ve told you before, if I want to divorce Melanie, I need to have enough leverage to get my parents to agree, or to fight them… Evelyn, to be responsible for you and Lila, I can’t just get a divorce recklessly.”

“And now, that time has finally come.”

As Dominic said this, his eyes shone brightly.

“Evelyn, once the project Melanie is working on succeeds, the Hale Health Center will take off. As soon as it goes public, that success becomes my achievement. I’ll tell my dad to make me the legal representative. That way, I’ll have my own publicly listed company, and Melanie will become useless.”

Feeling tired from the experiments, Melanie stretched and decided to call Stellaris PharmaTech.

She didn’t have Gabriel’s personal cell number, but she had gotten the company’s main line through the Hale Group.

After identifying herself as Melanie from the Hale Health Center, the receptionist at Stellaris PharmaTech asked her to hold.

“Hello? Ms. Royce, you didn’t have my number?” Gabriel’s cheerful voice came through the receiver.

Melanie knew that as soon as she gave her name, Gabriel would take her call.

To this day, Melanie still didn't fully understand why Gabriel had helped her out on several occasions.

Whether he was just a flirt or trying to poach her for his company didn't matter.

Ultimately, Melanie considered Gabriel a friend worth having.

This time, it was thanks to Stellaris PharmaTech that her divorce plan was able to proceed to the next stage more smoothly and quickly.
