She Left She Thrived She’s Worth Billions novel Chapter 171

He was already fuming about the dinner, and her question only stoked the fire.

“What thoughts… Those old geezers are just pulling rank and making outrageous demands!”

“I’m asking how you’re going to solve it.”

“Well…”

Dominic was at a loss for words.

The car was eerily quiet, the atmosphere thick with tension.

After a long silence, Dominic heard Evelyn say calmly,

“Just have Melanie go sleep with those executives.”

Dominic was shocked.

Evelyn just scoffed. “What, you can’t bear to part with her now?”

He was speechless.

“Weren’t you the one who said you were only using her? Since you don’t consider her your real wife anyway, why not make full use of her in a situation like this?”

As Dominic listened to Evelyn’s analysis, he lowered his gaze and remained silent.

“It’s all for the Hale Group, and for our family of three to finally be together openly and honestly…” Evelyn squeezed Dominic’s hand tightly.

“Melanie has always been a tool. When you need resources, you use her family’s connections. When you need to please some perverts, you use her body…”

Evelyn stared intently at Dominic, who refused to meet her gaze.

“Dominic, our three main suppliers are raising their prices in unison, demanding we quadruple what we pay. If we accept this condition, the Hale Health Center will collapse. If we don’t, we lose our suppliers and we’ll collapse anyway.”

“The only way for the Hale Group to survive this is to send Melanie to those executives’ beds.”

“Melanie loves to go clubbing so much, and you used to say you thought she was dirty… Since she’s already a dirty woman, sleeping with a few more old men shouldn’t be a big deal.”

Every word Evelyn spoke sank into Dominic’s mind.

“Let’s… let’s wait…”

Dominic’s ambiguous response brought a flicker of dissatisfaction to Evelyn’s eyes.

“Let me think about it…” Dominic’s voice was weak, more for his own benefit than for hers.

Evelyn was right. Whether they accepted the suppliers’ price hike or not, the Hale Group would be the one to suffer.

He had worked so hard to get where he was today; he couldn’t let these suppliers derail the new project.

However…

Was he really going to offer Melanie to that group of old men?

Dominic pressed his lips together tightly.

White silk gloves outlined his long, handsome hands.

He sat on the sofa, fingers interlaced, seemingly waiting for someone.

“You’re still awake?” Melanie asked in surprise.

“Yes…”

Preston gazed at Melanie, his ebony eyes holding a look that was different from usual.

It was almost… burning.

Melanie didn’t understand.

Why was Preston looking at her with such an expectant expression?

It was as if he had a question for her, or was waiting for her to speak first.

Melanie started to backtrack through her day.

Besides attending the dinner party in the evening, she had only taken a call from Camilla and initiated contact with Gabriel during the day.

And none of those people… had anything to do with Preston.

After a long moment of meeting his gaze, a slight frown creased Preston’s sculpted brow.

“Is there something you want to say to me?”
