Aria believed that a man as handsome and charismatic as Preston, even if he was at the bottom now, would quickly be promoted to a junior management position.
Aria's break was short, so she had only planned to stay home for a day before returning to Cyranth University.
But after meeting Preston, Aria was reluctant to leave.
She extended her break by another day without telling Sabrina.
Using the extra day, Aria secretly drove to a branch office of Stellaris PharmaTech.
She was going there to find Preston.
Preston had left Crescent Ridge Estate in such a hurry that she hadn't even had a chance to ask for his phone number.
Besides, with so many people at the villa, she couldn't get any time alone with him to build a connection.
"Hi, I'm looking for an employee here named Preston."
Aria asked the company's receptionist directly.
The receptionist made a call to an internal line.
"I'm sorry, Preston isn't here right now."
Aria was deeply disappointed to hear that.
She had gone to all the trouble of extending her break; what was the point if she couldn't even see Preston!
Aria drove on, her mind heavy with thoughts.
Her car passed a magnificent, luxurious skyscraper that seemed to pierce the clouds.
It was the Stellaris PharmaTech headquarters.
Aria slammed on the brakes.
She saw Preston!
Staring intently out the car window, Aria saw Preston, dressed in a black suit and white gloves, stride into the Stellaris PharmaTech headquarters building.
Another man in a suit and leather shoes followed beside him.
Logically, as a branch office employee, it was possible for Preston to visit the main office for work.
Leaning back in her chair, Melanie covered her face with the documents and closed her eyes, but her thoughts continued to race.
On the fourth day, she finally went to work, only to be called into a conference room by Dominic as soon as she arrived.
No one else was in the conference room, just Dominic and Evelyn.
Melanie saw Dominic turn and exchange a look with Evelyn before he spoke.
"Melanie, there's something I'd like to discuss with you," Dominic said.
But Melanie already understood.
This "discussion" wasn't a discussion with her at all.
It was just him informing her of a decision he and Evelyn had already made.
Melanie smiled faintly and asked, "What is it?"
"It's not a big deal…" Dominic said, looking at Evelyn again.
"It's just that an old friend of Evelyn's is back in town, and we'd like you to help make some arrangements for him."
