Gabriel glanced at the screen, which was filled with all sorts of women's gowns and sparkling jewelry, then back at Preston. He asked in a low voice, “Bro, I didn’t know you were into this stuff.”

Without even looking up, Preston lightly whacked Gabriel on the head with the iPad.

Gabriel clutched his forehead, looking wronged.

The seminar had been going on for an hour and a half, and Preston had spent most of that time browsing dresses and jewelry. He wasn't just looking at styles and pairings; he was even examining the fabric composition of the gowns and the material reports for the jewelry.

“Bro, are you picking out a dress or developing a new miracle drug? You don’t need to be this thorough!”

Preston ignored him, his silk-gloved hand tapping to open the fabric analysis report for the next haute couture gown.

“Melanie, aren’t you changing?” Evelyn Hale asked, sidling up to Melanie when she saw her heading straight for the banquet hall instead of the changing rooms.

Seeing Melanie’s expression, Evelyn immediately scoffed. “Oh, so you didn’t know the seminar ends with a grand banquet? I guess that makes sense. You don’t even have an invitation.”

Her main reason for coming was to meet Spencer, the head of the Halevy Group, at the banquet.

“My brother had a gown custom-made for me for tonight,” Evelyn sneered. “He hired the most famous designer in Averin. You don’t even have a gown, Melanie. Do you really have the nerve to attend the banquet?”

Listening to Evelyn’s taunts, Melanie glanced down at her own business attire. “I’m perfectly presentable. Besides, I’m not the only woman who hasn't changed. Why don’t you go ask them if they’re embarrassed?”

Before Evelyn could retort, a staff member approached them.

“Excuse me, ma’am. Could you please come with me?”

The staff member was speaking only to Melanie.
