Leonard's eyes traveled up and down, sizing up the woman standing before him.
Evelyn was dressed to the nines.
Her attire was even more dramatic than a celebrity at an awards ceremony, a lavish red gown that was the very picture of extravagance.
However, the overly grand dress made Evelyn's face less captivating in comparison.
Even though the symposium had progressed to the dinner stage, Leonard still had no clear impression of Evelyn's appearance.
He only remembered Melanie.
Even though Melanie's outfit was the plainest of all.
"You're... with Mr. Hale..."
"I'm Dominic's sister, Evelyn."
Evelyn said, handing her business card to Leonard.
Leonard's gaze held a hint of confusion, but out of politeness, he accepted the card.
"Ms. Hale wants me to be her dance partner? Why?"
Seeing Leonard's wariness, Evelyn feigned a coy smile.
"Because I have some very important information I'd like to share with you, Mr. Crowell, of course!"
Evelyn was direct. Leonard paused for a moment, his brow furrowing.
"If Mr. Crowell isn't interested, then forget it. I'll just go ask Mr. Marcelline instead."
Evelyn turned to leave, but Leonard grabbed her arm.
"Not so fast, Ms. Hale! When did I say I wasn't interested?"
With her back to Leonard, Evelyn smiled smugly.
She knew that playing hard to get would work on him.
"It would be my honor to dance with a beauty like you, Ms. Hale."
Leonard smoothly put his arm around Evelyn's shoulders, leading her toward the dance floor.
Evelyn's smile stiffened.
She had only approached Leonard to leak Melanie's marketing plan for the new cancer therapeutic; she had no intention of actually seducing him.
On the dance floor, Evelyn danced with Leonard, but the movement churned her stomach, making her feel nauseous and wanting to vomit.
