She Left She Thrived She’s Worth Billions novel Chapter 328

Leonard's eyes traveled up and down, sizing up the woman standing before him.

Evelyn was dressed to the nines.

Her attire was even more dramatic than a celebrity at an awards ceremony, a lavish red gown that was the very picture of extravagance.

However, the overly grand dress made Evelyn's face less captivating in comparison.

Even though the symposium had progressed to the dinner stage, Leonard still had no clear impression of Evelyn's appearance.

He only remembered Melanie.

Even though Melanie's outfit was the plainest of all.

"You're... with Mr. Hale..."

"I'm Dominic's sister, Evelyn."

Evelyn said, handing her business card to Leonard.

Leonard's gaze held a hint of confusion, but out of politeness, he accepted the card.

"Ms. Hale wants me to be her dance partner? Why?"

Seeing Leonard's wariness, Evelyn feigned a coy smile.

"Because I have some very important information I'd like to share with you, Mr. Crowell, of course!"

Evelyn was direct. Leonard paused for a moment, his brow furrowing.

"If Mr. Crowell isn't interested, then forget it. I'll just go ask Mr. Marcelline instead."

Evelyn turned to leave, but Leonard grabbed her arm.

"Not so fast, Ms. Hale! When did I say I wasn't interested?"

With her back to Leonard, Evelyn smiled smugly.

She knew that playing hard to get would work on him.

"It would be my honor to dance with a beauty like you, Ms. Hale."

Leonard smoothly put his arm around Evelyn's shoulders, leading her toward the dance floor.

Evelyn's smile stiffened.

She had only approached Leonard to leak Melanie's marketing plan for the new cancer therapeutic; she had no intention of actually seducing him.

On the dance floor, Evelyn danced with Leonard, but the movement churned her stomach, making her feel nauseous and wanting to vomit.

"I'd like to ask Mrs. Hale for a dance. What do you say?"

Just then, Samuel's voice brought Melanie back to the present.

Samuel had a lecherous look on his face; it was clear he was up to no good.

Just as Melanie was about to refuse, Dominic's voice suddenly cut in from the side.

"Sorry, Mr. Marcelline, but my wife has to dance with me."

Dominic put down the wine glass he was holding for networking and reached to take Melanie's hand, but she stood up at that exact moment.

"Excuse me, I need to use the restroom."

Unable to even touch a single one of her fingers, Dominic watched Melanie's graceful figure walk away, his heart filled with a mixture of loss and an unbearable itch of longing.

Melanie had been his wife for four years, yet for some reason, he felt as if he hadn't even managed to win her over.

Samuel, having been rejected, was also annoyed.

He had wanted to ask Melanie to dance precisely because he saw Leonard taking advantage of Evelyn on the dance floor.

Among all the female guests present, the two from the Hale Group were the ones they were least afraid of offending.
