She Left She Thrived She’s Worth Billions novel Chapter 389

Preston directed his answer at Marjorie.

Marjorie studied her son's face closely.

He looked entirely captivated, which only made her more wildly curious.

"You haven't won her over yet... and she just accepted such an expensive necklace?"

Elara's seemingly casual comment made Marjorie's expression shift instantly.

Feeling Preston's lethal glare lock onto her again, Elara quickly lowered her head to explain herself.

"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have spoken out of turn. I was just a little surprised, that's all."

"Elara makes a fair point, Preston. While I don't want to interfere in your love life, you still need to be careful. If this girl isn't even your girlfriend yet but feels perfectly comfortable accepting a priceless gift, she might not be the right match for you."

Listening to Marjorie earnestly cautioning her son, Elara kept a neutral face, but internally, she was practically cheering.

Any vain woman like that was obviously just after his money.

"Your mother is right..."

Elara spoke with measured slowness. "Even though our engagement is null and void, given how close our families are, I just don't want to see you get scammed. If you're going to give away a family heirloom, it should go to a wealthy heiress of equal standing."

"She is a wealthy heiress."

Preston shot Elara a dismissive look before turning back to Marjorie.

"And Grandma already approves of her."

At those words, all of Marjorie's doubts vanished into thin air.

"Really?"

Thrilled, she reached out and smacked Preston's arm.

"You stubborn boy! You took her to meet your grandmother but didn't bring her to see me?"

"I told you, I haven't officially won her over yet."

"Then what are you waiting for? Go after her! You're perfect in every way except for the fact that you have zero idea how to romance a woman. You need to learn from Gabriel... send some flowers, buy her more jewelry, say something romantic..."

Preston looked thoroughly repulsed by the suggestion.

Glancing across the room, she accidentally spotted three familiar faces sitting near a window table.

Aria, Dr. Hayes, and... Preston.

Melanie remembered Aria promising to use Dr. Hayes's connections to transfer Preston from the branch office to Stellaris PharmaTech Headquarters.

Preston had initially refused but eventually agreed.

Seeing the three of them meeting here today, she figured his transfer was finally set in stone.

"What are you looking at, Ms. Royce? Is there something behind me?"

Noticing her distraction, Douglas turned to look.

"It's nothing."

Melanie forced herself to redirect her attention.

So what if Preston was having lunch with Aria and Dr. Hayes? It was absolutely none of her business.
