She Left She Thrived She’s Worth Billions novel Chapter 466

Melanie navigated the bustling aisles of the supermarket, her cart slowly filling up.

She had gotten off work early today and planned to do a massive grocery haul. Tonight, she was going to roll up her sleeves and cook a lavish feast to treat herself and Preston.

Melanie still remembered the deal they made when Preston first rented the apartment to her at well below market value. His only condition had been that whenever she cooked, she would make an extra portion for him.

Yet here she was, paying a dirt-cheap rent for an ultra-luxurious place, and she had barely cooked a handful of meals for him.

Struck by a sudden wave of inspiration today, she was determined to make it up to him with a grand dinner.

"I said a feast! A massive feast! How does beef noodle soup count as a feast?"

Melanie couldn't help but yell into her phone.

She was currently on a call with Preston.

Even though they were officially a couple now, Melanie often felt like she barely knew anything about him.

For instance, she didn't even know his favorite foods.

The line went quiet for a moment, as if her question was an incredibly difficult puzzle to solve.

"But... I really like beef noodle soup!"

For the first time, Preston's voice carried a faint trace of a pout.

To him, as long as Melanie made it with her own hands, he would happily eat whatever was put in front of him.

"Do you seriously not have a single favorite food other than beef noodles?"

"Yeah."

"Alright, fine. I'll just have to wing it and see what looks good."

"Okay. I'll eat whatever you make."

Melanie couldn't help but smile at his response.

Given his background, Preston was clearly from a wealthy family, yet he was surprisingly low-maintenance when it came to his daily lifestyle.

Melanie continued tossing items into her cart while chatting with him.

"I'll start with a classic caramelized pork belly..."

She selected a premium cut of meat and dropped it into the basket.

"And maybe some garlic butter shrimp to go with it."

It wasn't a rehearsed line meant to sweep her off her feet; it was an honest, heartfelt confession.

"I just like hearing you talk."

"Really?"

"Really."

The unwavering sincerity in his voice brought a warm, knowing smile to her lips.

"You just know exactly what to say to make me happy."

"Not at all... I'm telling you the truth."

His deep, magnetic voice vibrated through the speaker, plucking at her heartstrings like a masterful melody.

"I like hearing you talk. I like your voice. I like your face. I like having you by my side. I like looking at you. I like everything about you..."

"Okay, okay, I get it!"

Melanie quickly cut him off, her free hand flying up to touch her burning cheeks.
