She Left She Thrived She’s Worth Billions novel Chapter 529

Elara looked up and saw Gabriel glaring down at her, his expression openly hostile.

"Listen, Miss Bennett. You're a high-society heiress. Have a little dignity, will you? My brother broke off your engagement ages ago and rejected you more times than I can count. More importantly, he's happily taken. Do you really have to keep stalking him like a desperate ex?"

Being publicly dragged by Gabriel made Elara's face flush crimson before draining of all color.

It was true that her massive ego had always prevented her from aggressively throwing herself at Preston.

She was the sole heir to the Bennett family empire, the flawless jewel of her parents' eyes.

She was young, stunning, and wealthy. She deserved the absolute best the world had to offer.

Even though Preston had ruthlessly severed their arranged engagement from the start, she had always harbored a stubborn delusion. She believed that sooner or later, he would realize his mistake, regret his decision, and crawl back to her to unite their powerful families.

After all, their elite circle was incredibly small.

There were only so many viable matches.

She was the only woman who truly complimented his status and matched his caliber.

And yet...

Elara lowered her gaze, her eyes practically vibrating with arrogant, bitter resentment.

Where the hell did Melanie come from?

Whether it was looks or pedigree, Elara refused to believe she was inferior.

But Preston was fiercely, sickeningly devoted to Melanie, acting as if the woman had cast a spell on him.

If Melanie didn't exist, Elara felt she might have eventually let it go and moved on.

But now...

She was determined to snatch Preston back.

And if she couldn't have him...

She would make damn sure Melanie couldn't, either.

She would tear them apart.

If she couldn't possess him...

No one else would.

Gabriel had no idea what toxic schemes were spiraling through Elara's mind.

He only saw her standing there in dead silence, staring blankly at the floor like she had short-circuited.

He had never imagined Elara could be such a pathological, manipulative liar.

"Preston, don't listen to a word she says! I didn't do anything!"

"You didn't? Are you telling me you didn't call me shameless and accuse me of stalking your brother?"

"I..."

Gabriel choked on his words. He had been completely outplayed.

"I did say that, but you smashed the glass yourself! I barely grazed you..."

Gabriel spun toward Preston in a panic.

"You have to believe me, man. You know I'd never pull some cheap stunt on a woman."

Before Gabriel could keep pleading his case, Preston simply raised a hand, silencing him instantly.

Preston turned his cold, predatory gaze onto Elara.

She was delicately fixing her hair, playing the role of the horribly wronged heiress to perfection.

"Since Miss Bennett insists that Gabriel knocked her glass over and demands I take responsibility... I will do exactly that. I'll have hotel security pull the surveillance footage right now to ensure she gets the justice she deserves."
