"Why do you always wear gloves? Are you a germaphobe?" Nathaniel asked curiously.
Preston withdrew his hand and shook his head.
"No. A germaphobe thinks the outside world is dirty."
For him, it was the exact opposite.
Sensing the unspoken words in Preston's hesitation, Nathaniel didn't press the issue.
If someone like Preston wore white gloves constantly and wasn't a germaphobe, he definitely had some unspeakable reason.
There was no need to dig into it.
"Let's play another round," Nathaniel suggested.
Seeing Nathaniel's renewed interest, Preston immediately reset the pieces.
"My pleasure."
Meanwhile, Melanie had just returned from Stellaris PharmaTech, her main task having been to pacify Gabriel.
At this critical juncture, while she wouldn't reveal her entire master plan to Gabriel, she couldn't keep him completely in the dark either.
She also needed to notify Stellaris PharmaTech's research department that the secret development of their own new cold remedy could now be brought into the light.
Over the next week, Aria's Creative Studio and the Hale Group signed several massive contracts.
Watching her daughter's studio expand so rapidly, Sabrina was thrilled and drafted an acquisition agreement right away.
As long as Nathaniel signed it, the Royce Group would fall directly into Aria's hands.
"Since the Royce Group has lost all its clients, your father's cash flow is bound to dry up. The company is just an empty shell now. He'll agree to the acquisition, figuring it might leave some cash for that little bitch Melanie."
Inside the Crescent Ridge Estate, Sabrina sat on the European-style sofa with her legs crossed, sipping hot tea with milk.
She had completely redecorated the villa with a new set of furniture.
The old style had been too gloomy and outdated, tailored to Nathaniel's tastes.
A new luxury car, a new coat...
Melanie looked at the smug Dominic, a layer of goosebumps rising on her skin.
How had she ever married this man?
Massaging her temples, Melanie couldn't bear to look at this dark chapter of her past.
Seeing her rub her forehead, Dominic assumed she was too ashamed to face him and smirked even wider.
"Look at you, Melanie. As the saying goes, the tables always turn."
"You ruined my company back then, and I graciously begged you to take me back, but you refused. Look at you now. The Royce Group is collapsing, your boyfriend is useless, and you're left to clean up this entire mess alone."
"Well? Do you regret your decision?"
Tilting his chin up, Dominic stared down at her with a condescending glare, his voice cold.
"It's not too late to beg for forgiveness."
