He had traveled here for a vacation back when he was in middle school.
Now, with the passage of time and so much having changed, he wasn't even sure if he could find any clues to prove who had actually saved his life all those years ago.
Despite the years, this nature reserve still maintained its scenic beauty.
However, the small shop where Evelyn Hale had worked had long since changed owners and signs.
Dominic asked several staff members around the reserve. Some were new hires, and while others were veterans, the event was so long ago that they had no memory of it.
Dominic felt a bit deflated, but he refused to give up.
After walking around the reserve for an entire day, he was thirsty, starving, and his back ached terribly.
"What the hell am I even doing..."
Dominic sat on a stone bench in the park, rubbing his lower back as he grumbled.
"Even if I find my real savior now, what good will it do?"
He didn't even know if this person was a man or a woman, young or old, dead or alive.
Dominic felt like he was losing his mind.
Ever since that moment at the prison when he realized Evelyn was never the one who saved him, he had impulsively flown straight to Belvaria like a man possessed.
He wanted to find the person who had actually saved his life.
But...
How was he supposed to do that?
Dominic currently had no money and no power.
And even if a blind cat miraculously stumbled upon a dead mouse and he found his true savior...
What could he possibly do for them?
"Lucky you ran into me. Don't worry, you're not going to die."
Unbidden, Dominic recalled the voice from all those years ago—the voice that had made him fall in love at first sound.
But after Evelyn's deception, he couldn't even tell if that voice or that memory was real anymore.
He could no longer trust his own mind.
Yet, he remained stubbornly unsatisfied.
For so many years, all his sacrifices for Evelyn were built on the mistaken belief that she was his savior, his true love.
Now that he knew he was wrong, he felt an overwhelming need to set the record straight.
