Out on the Garden Terrace, Building B, the Stellaris R&D executives were seated around the tables. However, every single one of them had their backs turned to the window where Elara was trapped.
Only one person was facing her directly.
Melanie Royce.
Melanie looked right at Elara standing behind the glass, her expression perfectly calm. She didn't flinch away from Elara's venomous, furious glare.
Melanie was the only one facing Elara's direction. It was a highly calculated seating arrangement. If any of the R&D staff were facing the window, Elara could have just waved her arms and signaled them to pick up their phones. But with Melanie as her only audience, Elara had no leverage. Melanie wasn't a Stellaris employee, and she certainly owed Elara zero favors.
Elara glared at Melanie, her eyes burning with pure, unadulterated rage.
Knowing exactly how much she was infuriating her rival, Melanie flashed a brilliant, blindingly cheerful smile right at her.
Instantly, Elara's face twisted into an ugly sneer. The angrier Elara looked, the more triumphant Melanie felt.
Elara wanted to put her in her place, right? She wanted to march an army in and steal her meeting room?
Fine. If Elara loved the R&D meeting room so much, she could stay in there and conduct her meeting until she baked.
