Melanie abhorred causing a scene.
But she certainly wasn't afraid of one.
Since Leila was hell-bent on picking a fight, Melanie saw no reason to play nice.
Lifting her gaze, Melanie locked eyes with the arrogant designer and let out a soft, amused laugh.
"You misunderstand, Ms. Langley. My boyfriend would never buy me such cheap, low-quality jewelry. He has better taste than that, and so do I."
The moment the words left Melanie's mouth, the color drained entirely from Leila's face.
"What is that supposed to mean? Not a single piece in this room is priced under a million dollars, and you have the nerve to call it cheap?!"
Seeing Leila's eyes bulge with fury only deepened Melanie's smile.
"Your asking price is pure delusion. In reality, malachite holds very little intrinsic value, and the stones you selected for this collection are bottom-tier quality."
"You deliberately chose this raw material to aggressively slash your production costs. You're trying to market the illusion that your pieces are valuable because of your brilliant design, rather than the actual worth of the stones."
"But anyone with half a brain can see your craftsmanship is painfully mediocre. These pieces aren't worth millions. They aren't even worth a few thousand dollars..."
Before Melanie could finish, Leila shrieked at the top of her lungs.
"You're lying!"
Leila's eyes were red with hysterical rage as she pointed wildly at the surrounding guests.
"If my designs are so worthless, then why did he... and he... pay top dollar for them?! Are you calling them idiots? Are you saying they lack your superior taste?!"
It was obvious Leila was trying to weaponize the buyers to gang up on her, but Melanie simply shrugged, utterly unbothered.
Her relaxed, effortless demeanor stood in stark contrast to Leila's complete meltdown.
"Do you honestly believe they dropped millions on your work because they appreciate your aesthetic genius?"
Melanie raised a hand, pointing at one of the men.
"That's the CEO of Apex Real Estate. The Lockridge Group is his biggest client."
"And him..."
Melanie pointed to another man across the room.
