"...Seize the opportunity?"
Preston had no idea what she was talking about.
"What opportunity exactly?"
Believing he was just playing dumb out of pride, Lilian shot him a look of absolute exasperation.
"After everything your grandmother and I have been through, you're really going to lie to my face? I know all about your... private affliction."
Preston froze completely.
Since when did he have a private affliction?
And what the hell kind of affliction was it supposed to be?
Taking his stunned silence as deep shame, Lilian quickly shifted into a softer, more motherly tone.
"It's an ego thing. I completely understand. But... I'm family. You don't have to hide these things from me."
Her reassurances only drove him deeper into utterly bewildered territory.
"To the rest of the world, Silas is a master of holistic medicine. But between you and me? His absolute specialty is restoring male vitality. So tomorrow, I'll introduce you. He'll give you a proper workup, put you on an aggressive biological regimen, and I guarantee he'll have your stamina back in fighting form!"
Bursting with confidence, Lilian gave his bicep a firm, encouraging smack.
"Thank you, Minister."
Preston offered a painstakingly polite response.
But internally, his brain had completely short-circuited trying to process her absurd conclusion about his sex drive.
While Lilian was busy agonizing over Preston's bedroom performance, three blocks away from Lockridge Convalescent Home, Barney Miller was aggressively drinking with Dominic Hale in a dingy late-night diner.
"My hands were completely tied, VP Hale! We're talking about Stellaris PharmaTech here. When Gabriel Whitmore kicks your door down, you don't lie to him!"
"The guy stormed my facility with a small army! My operation isn't exactly legal to begin with. If I made an enemy out of Stellaris, I'd be at the bottom of the river by morning!"
"So please, VP Hale, you have to understand! I had no choice!"
Even though he hadn't taken the fall for the forgery, his grand masterplan had been entirely dismantled.
And it was all Gabriel's fault!
Dominic ground his teeth together so hard his jaw ached.
If Gabriel hadn't marched his goons into Valiant Manufacturing, the Royce Group would have been entirely destroyed today.
"The Whitmores..."
Dominic muttered into his glass, a dark obsession taking root.
It looked like Melanie really had crawled into bed with Gabriel. Only the overwhelming reach of the Whitmore family could have tracked down his ghost operation so fast.
With a volatile, suffocating rage burning in his chest, a lethal new idea suddenly ignited in his mind.
Was it possible to completely annihilate the Whitmore family once and for all?
