Jade's smile widened as a thrill of absolute victory rushed through her.
"Macy, let's go take photos at the lake next week."
Macy had assumed they were going this weekend. "Aww... why not this week?"
Jade let out a coy, bashful laugh. "I can't this week. I... have plans to catch a movie and go shopping."
Macy giggled. "Oh, no wonder you pushed our photoshoot back! You already have a date with Miles."
Jade's voice was disgustingly sweet. "Macy, stop teasing me!"
After hanging up, Jade was in an incredibly good mood.
Thinking of Quinn, a cold, venomous light flashed in her eyes. The daughter of a maid actually thought she could compete with her?
She barely even had to lift a finger; there were plenty of people lining up to destroy Quinn for her.
She pulled out her phone and sent a sickeningly sweet text to Miles.
Miles replied: [Yeah, see you tomorrow.]
...
"Quinn, what did you just say? That total bastard Miles won't let you move out?"
Quinn held her phone in her left hand, hiding in a secluded corner of the garden to take the video call. Her right hand was wrapped in thick white gauze.
"Yeah. Next Wednesday is the day we officially finalize the divorce at the Town Hall. He refused to let me leave, saying I have to stay at the York estate until the paperwork is done. I have no idea what psycho trip he's on right now."
Yara was furious. "Are you coming back tonight? The kids were so excited, they've been waiting for you all day."
Quinn glanced down at her heavily bandaged hand. She couldn't let the twins see her like this; it would just break their hearts again.
"I'll come back in a few days."
