"Ms. Avery, I've driven over to pick up you and little Luna."
"What?"
Quinn looked shocked. Hunter was already at Fairview Apartments?
Luna and Caleb had just gone downstairs to play on the slide. What if he saw them?
She quickly threw open the door and rushed downstairs.
When she reached the courtyard, she saw Hunter waiting outside by a parked car.
She held her breath. Thank god he hadn't entered the complex yet.
She hurriedly instructed, "Stacy, take Caleb upstairs right now."
"Luna, come with me."
"Mommy, is something bad happening?"
Caleb sensed the tension and didn't ask too many questions. "Mommy, take care of my sister. Don't worry about me."
Quinn wanted to hug her son. He was only three, yet he was more reliable than most adults.
Caleb gave his mother an adorable, reassuring 'OK' gesture and immediately headed into the building with Stacy.
"Mommy, what's wrong?"
"One of Mommy's acquaintances is here. Your brother can't be seen by them."
Luna nodded. "Okay."
Quinn carried Luna out of the complex. "Hunter, what is the meaning of this? Who gave you the right to show up uninvited and disturb my friend and her children?"
A fleeting trace of awkwardness crossed Hunter's face, but he quickly masked it with a professional smile and a slight bow. "Ms. Avery, I... I was just following Mr. York's orders."
He politely greeted Luna. "Hi, little Luna, we meet again."
Luna politely replied, "Hello, Mr. Hunter."
