Miles's breath hitched, and his throat went dry.
He hadn't meant to do it that day; he had just pushed her a little too hard, making her slam her waist.
But if she hadn't slapped Jade, he never would have lost control and shoved her.
When it came down to it, the blame still fell on Quinn for being so vicious and domineering.
But in front of a child, he couldn't explain all of that. He could only take the blame himself.
"I... Luna, it's my fault. I didn't take good care of her."
Tears welled up in Luna's beautiful eyes, and the tip of her nose turned red. "Weird Uncle, Quinn's palm has been hurt so many times. Bad people are always bullying her. Last time, her palm was stabbed with scissors, and there was so much blood. This time, it's hurt again, and it's the exact same hand. Her hand really can't take any more injuries."
Hearing little Luna's heartbroken, tearful baby voice made Miles's heart completely knot up in his chest.
It was such a strange sensation.
Why did hearing Luna cry make him feel so terrible?
"Luna... tomorrow I'll have a doctor look at her wound. But I'm worried she won't cooperate. Could you come with her tomorrow?"
Right now, he really just wanted to hold this little girl and comfort her properly.
For Luna's sake, he would have Zachary come over tomorrow to check on that woman's hand.
"I have to ask Quinn first."
"Okay. She'll definitely agree."
Miles was confident about that. Once he texted her, she would have no choice but to comply.
He also decided to have Hunter pick out a new smart-watch for kids—one with video-call features.
