But after waiting and waiting, Quinn and Caleb never showed up.
Only eight-year-old Warren Miller and his parents walked onto the stage.
The judges checked their watches. It had been ten minutes. Why hadn't Caleb and his parents arrived yet?
Assuming they were just running late, they had a staff member give them a call.
Yara picked up and let out a sarcastic laugh. "Your competition is rigged. My Caleb isn't going anywhere near that circus."
Hearing this, the judge's face drained of color. He rushed over to Miles and quietly relayed the message.
Miles's brows slammed together, his expression turning thunderous.
He grabbed his phone and dialed Quinn's number, but it went straight to voicemail.
The warmth vanished from his eyes, replaced by a layer of biting frost.
He didn't even have to guess. Quinn had deliberately kept Caleb away from the ceremony. No wonder she had been acting so cold the other day.
He had already arranged for Caleb to share the championship title with Leo. What more did she want?
How dare she instigate Caleb into boycotting the ceremony?
His knuckles turned white as he gripped his phone. He looked at Hunter and ordered coldly,
"If Caleb isn't here, we're still giving out the award. You go up there and accept it for him!"
Hunter pointed at himself. "Boss, you... you mean me?"
"Caleb's parents didn't authorize me to do this. Isn't this a bad idea?"
The venue was packed with media, cameras flashing everywhere, live-streaming the entire event.
Hunter was terrified of blowing his cover and getting dragged through the mud by the tabloids.
"Caleb is the nephew of Quinn's best friend, and I am Quinn's legal husband. If I say you have authorization, you have authorization."
Hunter realized he had a point. "True. With you backing me up, the press wouldn't dare write anything out of line."
