Seeing her best friend struggling to hold back a laugh, Quinn's lips twitched involuntarily.
She felt a profound sense of satisfaction knowing Luna had rejected Miles's overbearing attempt to claim her. Yet, beneath that relief, a quiet, indescribable sorrow lingered in her heart.
Perhaps it was the tragic reality of seeing Luna choose not to acknowledge Miles as a father figure.
They were biological father and daughter, yet they stood face-to-face as strangers, relegated to being nothing more than an 'uncle' and a 'wild child'.
Ultimately, Miles simply didn't deserve to be Luna's father.
He had only ever caused her pain.
Pushing down the complicated emotions, Quinn kept her face perfectly neutral. Her voice was ice-cold.
"You heard her, Miles. Luna doesn't want you as a godfather. You should go spend time with your son."
Her gaze swept over Jade, who was standing beside him, and she offered a mocking smile. "Control your son. Don't let him be so disrespectful. If he acts like this in kindergarten, he's going to make everyone despise him and thoroughly embarrass the York family."
Jade curled her fingers inward, hiding the burning resentment in her eyes.
That bitch!
What right did she have to criticize her son?
"Quinn, speaking of apologies, you falsely accused Leo and me last time. You promised you would apologize to us, yet I haven't heard a single word of remorse from you."
"You need to apologize to me right now, in front of everyone!"
She assumed that bringing this up would humiliate Quinn, forcing her to look for a hole to crawl into.
But Quinn didn't look embarrassed at all. Instead, she fired right back.
"Jade, you know exactly whether or not your son stole my scarf, don't you?"
