"Jade, the fact that you won't swear on it proves you're guilty. Yet you still have the audacity to twist the narrative and claim I'm humiliating you!"
Jade lost all the color in her face. She wanted to argue back, but going up against both Quinn and Yara felt like a losing battle.
She had originally intended to use the situation to force an apology out of Quinn, but instead, she ended up being the one humiliated.
Tears pooled in her eyes. Biting her pale lip, she cast a weak, pitiful glance toward Miles.
But Miles didn't spare her a single glance. His entire focus was fixed on Luna, the little girl who was currently fuming at him.
His mind was racing, trying to figure out how to gently coax her so she wouldn't be mad at him anymore.
He was completely oblivious to Jade's fragile, teary-eyed performance.
The mere thought of Luna ignoring him forever made his chest ache terribly. He couldn't even explain to himself why it hurt so much.
"Yara, Luna, let's go."
Panic surged in Miles's chest. He wanted to say something to make them stay, but he couldn't find a single valid excuse.
In the past, he might have used his overbearing authority to force them to stay, but right now, he had no right to hold them back.
Cody raised a mocking eyebrow. "Good riddance. At least she knows her place. Miles, let's just make this gathering all about Leo."
Luke chimed in, "Cody's right. We were originally here to celebrate Jade and Leo anyway. Now that the eyesores are gone, we can finally relax."
"Shut up!"
Miles was already in a foul mood. Hearing his two friends run their mouths ignited a blazing fury in his chest, sending a terrifying, icy aura rippling off him.
The two men instinctively flinched, completely bewildered.
Why was Miles suddenly so furious?
Noticing that Miles's gaze was still locked on the retreating figures of Quinn and her group, Cody realized something.
