Quinn let out a soft laugh and raised a single finger to her lips. "Shh. Keep your voice down. You need to maintain your elegant image as the Winter family heiress. You wouldn't want that precious persona to shatter, would you?"
Jade’s fury spiked straight to her head, her vision turning hazy with rage.
The employees in the executive office widened their eyes in shock, staring in absolute disbelief at the woman who dared to openly mock Secretary Winter.
Secretary Winter was Mr. York's favorite! Who on earth was this beautiful girl, and how did she have the nerve to humiliate her like that?
The entire room held its breath. Their gazes darted back and forth between the two women. Someone covered their mouth, glancing sideways at Jade's livid expression.
Leaning in, an employee whispered into their colleague's ear, "My god, did someone actually just say that to Secretary Winter?"
Another employee furrowed their brows, shooting a quick look toward the CEO's office. Seeing no movement, they lowered their voice to a barely audible murmur. "Everyone in the York Corporation practically worships the ground she walks on. This girl has some serious nerve."
Jade couldn't hear the exact words being exchanged, but she knew they were gossiping about her.
Her mind twisted with malice. She choked down her boiling anger, hiding the dark venom in her eyes, and let a thin layer of tears well up as she looked back at Quinn.
She held out the laptop again. "Quinn, are you holding a grudge because I took the other laptop?"
Her features shifted into an exaggerated expression of kindness. "Please don't be angry. This one is really nice too. It might not be as good as the last one, but it's practically brand new."
Quinn pushed the laptop away. Taking advantage of the motion, Jade purposely let the device slip from her hands. With a loud crash, the laptop slammed onto the floor.
Lynn Reed walked out of the restroom just in time to see her laptop smashed on the ground. She let out an ear-piercing scream.
"My laptop!"
"Ms. Avery, if you didn't want to use it, you could have just given it back! Did you really have to smash it?"
A flash of smug triumph crossed Jade's heart, but outwardly, she looked heartbroken. "Quinn, are you still mad at Miles for giving me the other computer? I know you're upset, but take it out on me. Don't take it out on the poor laptop."
Quinn could no longer suppress the explosive anger raging in her chest. "You asked for it!"
