She Walked Away With His Twins, While He Begged the Ground She Walked On novel Chapter 28

At the mention of Miles, Quinn's smile faltered slightly.

Yara noticed the sudden disappointment in her eyes and quickly shifted the conversation to work.

After spending the day with her children, Quinn returned to Regency Bay at eight o'clock that night.

As she stepped into the living room, she found Jade and Miles sitting on the sofa, deep in conversation, sharing a picture-perfect moment of intimacy.

Seeing her walk in, Jade let out a soft laugh. "Quinn, you're back?"

Miles's dark eyes locked onto her. "Quinn, you sneaked out. Jack was fined because of you. If this happens again, he won't be working at Regency Bay anymore."

Hearing that Jack had been punished because of her sent a jolt of anxiety through Quinn, but she forced herself to remain completely calm.

"Miles, we're getting our divorce papers in a few days. Is this power trip really necessary?"

"Don't worry, Jack won't do anything to upset you on my account ever again."

Jade chimed in, playing the gentle peacemaker. "Miles, you really can't blame Jack. You know how hard Quinn is to manage."

Quinn knew Jade was just stirring the pot, deliberately making her look worse in front of Miles, but this time, she didn't snap back.

She didn't want to cause any more trouble for Jack. In the past, when Susan constantly bullied her, Jack had been the only one to defend her.

Because of him, her life at Regency Bay hadn't been entirely unbearable.

Miles shot Jade a warm look. "Jade, I know you're just being kind. But rules are rules. When a mistake is made, punishment follows."

Quinn had no desire to listen to them flirt. She went to her room, dropped her shopping bags, and immediately sought out Jack.

Gail reassured her that the master had only given Jack a symbolic financial penalty and told her not to worry about it.

Quinn stepped out, intending to plead Jack's case to Miles, only to hear his low, smooth voice addressing Jade. "Jade, I'll go wait for you upstairs."
