"Miles, you were the one being unreasonable first. Don't turn this around on us. Yara is my friend, so I suggest you show her some respect!"
Yara patted Quinn’s shoulder lightly and smiled. "It's fine, Quinn. I don't care."
Noticing that Macy still hadn't uttered a single word of apology, Yara’s tone dripped with sarcasm.
"Miles, let's put your childhood friend aside for a second. It looks like your dear sister has no intention of apologizing to me. Since she clearly doesn't want to do this, why did you even drag Quinn and me all the way out here?"
Miles pinched the bridge of his nose in frustration. "Macy! You did something wrong, so you need to apologize. Do not make me teach you how to behave."
Macy was seething with frustration. Seeing her brother's warning glare, she pouted and mumbled unwillingly, "I'm... sorry! There, Yara, are you happy now?"
"Sorry for what?"
Yara crossed her arms over her chest. "Even if I strain my ears, I can barely hear you." She scoffed. "You mumble some quiet nonsense and don't even specify what you're apologizing for. Do you really expect me to accept that as a sincere apology?"
Macy hadn't wanted to apologize in the first place; she was only here because she was terrified of her brother's temper.
Seeing that Yara wasn't backing down even after she had said the words, Macy's fury boiled over.
Her shrill voice echoed through the room. "Yara, don't push your luck! I already said I'm sorry."
Quinn cast a glacial glare in her direction. "Where is the apology letter? You disrespectfully toss out a half-baked 'sorry' to the air without even handing over a written apology. You call this an apology?"
Her words weren't just meant for Macy—they were a direct jab at Miles. "If you were just going to put on a half-assed show, you shouldn't have staged this whole dramatic scene. It’s honestly sickening."
Miles’s jaw tightened, his face turning an angry shade of gray. "Macy, take out your apology letter!"
Macy had scribbled down a single sentence and had planned on keeping it hidden. But since Yara insisted on pushing the issue, a smug smirk crept onto Macy's lips.
She was asking for it, so she had no one to blame but herself.
Macy tossed the letter onto the table. "It's right there. Read it yourself."
