Jade had purposely changed into a light, sheer outfit before coming downstairs, hoping to admire the moonlight with him.
She imagined strolling through the garden with soft music playing in the background. Once the mood turned intimate and romantic, she could naturally lean into his arms.
But hearing him say he was leaving froze the smile on her face.
She took a step forward and gently tugged at his sleeve. "Miles, Leo hasn't seen you in days. Can't you stay a little longer to keep him company?"
Miles smoothly slipped his arm free and said gently, "Not tonight. It's getting late. Another time."
Seeing that he didn't want to stay for even a second longer, Jade clenched her fingers tightly. Her mind immediately went to the small packet of powder her brother had given her.
There was no rush; opportunities would come.
It would be best if it happened right in front of that bitch, Quinn. Let her see that Miles only ever felt passion for one woman, giving that bitch the ultimate slap in the face!
She smiled enchantingly, her voice soft. "Then Leo and I will walk you out."
"Daddy, hug!"
Leo reached his arms out. Miles scooped him up, and they walked out together.
...
Quinn was chatting with Ethan about waiting for Wayne outside the York Corporation that day. "He said he needs two days to think about it. I plan to text him tomorrow to press for an answer."
"Quinn, don't worry. Things are moving in the right direction."
The operative he had arranged had already infiltrated Jade's house successfully.
Within three days, he should have the results he wanted.
But since the job wasn't fully complete, he held back from telling her just yet to avoid getting her hopes up if complications arose.
Quinn's phone buzzed with a few photos sent by Jade. The pictures showed her walking side-by-side with Miles.
Miles was carrying Leo. The three of them looked like a picture-perfect, warm family.
