She Walked Away With His Twins, While He Begged the Ground She Walked On novel Chapter 34

Tristan lowered his head. He didn't want to be the one blocking her path, but he didn't dare disobey his boss's orders.

Quinn turned and waved to Secretary Wade. "Eleanor, I've got to head out first."

Eleanor noticed the car waiting for her—a top-of-the-line black Bentley—and a ripple of surprise flashed in her eyes as she waved back.

She was definitely going to tell Mr. Sinclair that Ms. Avery was in incredibly high demand.

Quinn climbed into the car, but when she saw who was already inside, she froze.

"Ma'am, aren't you getting in?"

Miles treated her like she was invisible, speaking on the phone in a gentle tone entirely reserved for Jade.

"Jade, be good. Hunter will take you home. I have an international video conference tonight."

Quinn reluctantly got into the car, but instead of the back seat, she pulled open the passenger door.

She knew this bastard was only giving her a ride because he was terrified she would embarrass him in public.

She also noticed that the jerk had completely taken off his suit jacket—undoubtedly because she had accidentally brushed against it earlier.

She lowered her eyelashes, praying the day they signed the divorce papers would arrive faster.

Miles ignored her completely, pulling out his tablet to review global financial news.

Quinn pulled out her phone as well, replying to a few texts from Yara.

For a while, the only sound in the car was the muffled, suffocating rhythm of their breathing.

The Bentley exited the bustling downtown thoroughfare and merged onto the road leading to the hillside villa district.

The road was flanked by the towering walls of exclusive private estates. Dense camphor trees blocked out the few working streetlamps, leaving the winding road ominously dark.

The sudden ring of Miles's phone shattered the heavy silence. He answered it, and a frantic cry for help echoed through the speaker.

The man who usually never let his emotions show suddenly lost all his composure. His voice grew urgent, "Jade, don't panic. I'm coming right now."

Without a second of hesitation, he ordered Tristan to pull over.

"Quinn, Jade was in an accident. Get out here."

His tone was absolute ice, devoid of a single ounce of warmth.
