She Walked Away With His Twins, While He Begged the Ground She Walked On novel Chapter 35

Despite catching herself, a bloody scrape was torn across her calf. She collapsed onto the pavement, tears slipping down her cheeks, one after another, totally out of her control.

Mixed with the cold rain, she could no longer tell what was a teardrop and what was the storm.

Suddenly, another set of headlights rounded the bend. This time, she gathered every ounce of courage she had left and aggressively wiped the rain from her face.

Holding her heels in her hands, she stood squarely in the middle of the lane, spreading her arms wide. Thankfully, they were on a steep incline, so the car wasn't moving fast.

The driver slammed on the brakes just in time. Quinn rushed to the window, knocking frantically.

"Help! Please... buddy, just give me a ride. I swear I'm not a scammer or a criminal. My phone died."

"You're a lifesaver, you really are. Good things happen to good people!"

She pressed her hands together in a pleading gesture, bowing slightly toward the window and thanking him over and over.

At first, the driver was too paranoid to unlock the doors, afraid it was a trap.

But when he saw her pale, trembling face soaked in rain, looking utterly miserable, his pity won out, and he unlocked the passenger door.

"You live up in the estates too?"

"Yes! Thank you so much."

The man discretely sized her up. Despite her drenched and battered state, her eyes were bright and striking, the moisture clinging to her lashes only making her beautiful features stand out more.

He was intensely curious as to why she was walking this stretch of road alone.

When he dropped her off at the gates of Regency Bay, he glanced at her one last time. Living in such a magnificent mansion, yet forced to walk home in the dark and the rain?

She had to be an abandoned trophy wife. Why else would she be in such a pitiful state?

Quinn bowed to him again in gratitude. "Thank you so much. You're a good person, and karma will reward you."

The man simply waved it off without a word and drove away.

Hearing the commotion outside, Gail hurried out from the guardhouse. Seeing it was Quinn, she let out a massive sigh of relief.

"Ma'am, you're finally home!"

Tristan had called multiple times asking if the missus had returned.

Gail had kept telling him no, waiting anxiously in the guardhouse the entire time.

Now, she could finally breathe.

She quickly dialed Tristan back to let him know so he could inform his boss.

Quinn felt violently ill and just wanted to take a hot shower.
