"Miles, I'll listen to you. I will apologize to Quinn."
Seeing that he had accepted her explanation, the massive weight on Jade's chest finally lifted, and she sat down to eat breakfast in peace.
She had spent the entire night agonizing over how to spin this story. She knew better than anyone that Miles valued character above all else.
As long as she maintained her flawless persona, Miles would listen to her excuses and refuse to believe she deliberately stole the manuscript from Quinn's flash drive.
Whether anyone else believed her was irrelevant.
As long as Miles believed her and stood by her side, that was all that mattered.
"When is Quinn coming back? She hasn't been home for a few nights now, right?"
"Should I call her now? When she gets back, I'll initiate the apology."
"She's coming back today," Miles replied with utter certainty.
He sounded as though he firmly believed that once Quinn received his call, she wouldn't delay for a second before rushing back to Regency Bay.
However, Hunter had called the police last night, and they should have already arrested the hacker who breached Jade's computer. Why hadn't Quinn called him begging for mercy all night?
He felt a twinge of surprise. Had the hacker not asked Quinn for help?
Or had Quinn simply abandoned the person who helped her?
"I have some work to take care of. Finish your breakfast."
Miles went upstairs and dialed Quinn's number.
"Jade is at Regency Bay. She wants to personally apologize to you. When are you coming back?"
