"Ms. Avery, weren't you hooked up to an IV at the hospital? How did you..."
Quinn was deeply confused, but her mother's well-being took immediate priority.
Seeing her mother was sleeping peacefully, she whispered to Gail that they would talk later.
She sprinted to the doctor's office. The physician assured her that her mother's checkup went perfectly; after a few more months of recovery, she would be completely self-sufficient.
Overwhelming relief flooded Quinn's system. Hot tears pricked her eyes as a bright, fierce hope for the future reignited in her chest.
Thank God!
Returning to the ward, she gently ushered Gail out into the hallway.
"Ms. Avery, Jack sent me over here to look after your mother."
Quinn blinked, stunned. Did Miles actually care enough about her accident to orchestrate this behind the scenes?
How else would Gail have known she was admitted to the ER?
Before she could untangle that thought, her phone chimed sharply with a new message notification.
She opened it, only to be hit with a barrage of intimate, disgustingly romantic photos of Miles and Jade under the cherry blossoms.
Macy had added a venomous caption: *Quinn, no matter what pathetic stunts you pull for attention, my brother is in love with Jade. Stop obsessing over what isn't yours.*
*If you want to see how much he pampers her, check my social media.*
Macy had deliberately sent the photos via direct message just to ensure Quinn wouldn't miss the show.
Seeing Quinn's already pale face drain of all remaining color, Gail asked anxiously.
"Ms. Avery, what's wrong?"
"It's... it's nothing. Thank you, Gail."
Needing a moment to breathe, Quinn stopped by a local deli near the nursing home and bought a bowl of soup.
