Luna whispered, "I knew he didn't leave."
Quinn walked over and opened the door. "Miles, is there something else?"
He took a step inside. Quinn instinctively turned her body sideways, wanting to avoid any physical contact with him.
"Luna, Caleb, do you like the clothes I bought for you?"
Both Luna and Caleb had seen the new clothes Gail brought up earlier. They were stylish—cool outfits for Caleb and pretty princess dresses for Luna.
They weren't going to lie and say they didn't like them. However, their mother had taught them never to casually accept gifts from others, which was why they had only taken the pajamas to get through the night.
Quinn planned to go back to Fairview Apartments tomorrow to grab their own clothes.
Luna asked, "Miles, are all those clothes really for me and my brother?"
Miles crouched down, his expression gentle. "Yes, I bought them just for you two."
Over by the bed, Quinn sneered silently as she smoothed the sheets.
He always gave her Jade's discarded leftovers, or worse, promotional freebies. Now he was offering her children clothes?
There was no way the kids would accept them. For all they knew, these were just things Leo had rejected.
She could tolerate being treated like garbage herself, but her children were her entire world. She would never let them be humiliated like that.
Before, he had promised Luna a new smartwatch, only for it to be swapped with a second-hand piece of junk engraved with an insult calling her an outcast.
Thinking of all the past slights, there was zero chance she'd let her children accept a single thing from him.
Luna had her own reservations. She was terrified that if she wore these clothes, Leo would just mock her again, claiming his dad bought them for her because she was poor.
"We like them, but Mommy told Caleb and me that we can't just take presents from people. Miles, you should take them back. We have our own clothes. We just borrowed the pajamas for tonight. Thank you anyway!"

I would have accepted the jerk husband ending up with the heroine if he’s only powerful, intelligent but he’s so powerless and so stupid....
Can you make Ethan be the endgame? That Miles is a total jerk....
