The guests whispered among themselves in intense curiosity. "I didn't hear that the York heir had kids?"
"Could they be illegitimate?"
"Impossible. The number one rule of the York family is zero tolerance for illegitimate children."
"Right, I heard even getting a divorce in that family is nearly impossible."
The murmurs continued to ripple through the crowd. "I've heard that too. The York family's reputation is built on strict, flawless discipline, and the old lady runs the household with an iron fist. It's exactly why they're the top family in Fairmont."
"They're probably just a friend's kids. I just heard the little girl call him 'Uncle'."
"That makes sense. I was about to say, how could the York family ever have illegitimate children?"
Yet, someone still muttered quietly, "But doesn't Miles York like Jade Winter? Why is he walking in with another woman?"
None of this chatter reached Miles or Quinn as they led the twins into the grand villa of the ancestral estate.
The two little ones looked around with wide, curious eyes, completely fascinated by the unfamiliar surroundings.
"Weird Uncle, is this your home too?"
Luna looked up at him, her round eyes blinking as her bright, innocent voice rang out.
Miles smiled warmly. "Yes, it is. Do you like it, Luna? If you do, you can come over and play anytime."
Luna didn't say whether she liked it or not, only offering a simple observation. "Your house is really big."
Caleb, still wearing his elegant half-butterfly mask, looked up. "Godmother, is this where the Weird Uncle grew up?"
"Yes, this is where he grew up."
It was also where she had come to visit her mother years ago. It was the very place where she had recognized him as the boy who had fought off street thugs for her in a grimy alleyway—the moment she had fallen completely, irrevocably in love, losing her heart entirely.
But soon, all of that would be over.
A faint, rippling sadness flashed through Quinn's hazel eyes, vanishing as quickly as it appeared.
Evelyn York sat in the center of the grand living room, with Macy York and Sienna Sterling seated on either side, keeping her company.
Evelyn's face was polite and gentle, but lacked any real joy.
That was, until she saw her grandson walk in with Quinn, accompanied by the two adorable children she had been so desperately waiting to see.

I would have accepted the jerk husband ending up with the heroine if he’s only powerful, intelligent but he’s so powerless and so stupid....
Can you make Ethan be the endgame? That Miles is a total jerk....
